Diet drinks - the artificial sweeteners taste vile.
Having to forswear foods I have loved all my life.
Trying to find low carb meals when eating out.
Spuds are the work of the devil masquerading as a gift from angels.
Grump.
Mash, chips, roasted .......oh,yeah!
However screws with my BG levels and slams the weight on.

Replacements?
I find eating other vegetables and just not having potatoes is best for me.
Cabbage, sprouts, cauliflower - stuff like that.

Cauliflower mashed up is a good replacement for mashed potatoes and rice if you want something to soak up gravy or sauce.

I'm sure there's more.
I'm a low carber and have lost two stone over three months mostly by cutting out spuds pasta rice and bread.
I cut them completely for the first month of going LCHF but now have two or three meals a week with one or the other on the plate .... small portions compared with the past.
I love mash but they're the worst.
Best for me are chips or roast or none at all and after three or four months I don't miss them much.

I used my meter to tell me what portions of which type of potato I can manage. This was trial and error over a few weeks. In the end I discovered I can manage 3 small new potatoes, or 2 roast ones, or a few homemade chips, and I mean a few. 6 or 7. (not oven baked or shop bought). However, we are all different. You need to test them out with your meter and reduce your portions until you find a portion size that suits you.

Used to love jacket potatoes but they send me higher, faster, than pretty much anything else!

I thought I was just weird until I started reading the Dr Bernstein book. He says that potatoes have an effect on blood sugar tag is almost as extreme as eating pure sugar!

But then, everyone is different.

I'm better with potatoes than with grains.

But that doesn't mean I'm good with potatoes...

I haven't had a spud in over a year, they are poison to me, they are my nemesis!

I really don't miss the goose fat covered roasties! Or the golden crisp soft fluffy middle vinegar drenched chips, wedged between two slabs of thick bread with a slavering of tomato sauce or the soft potato middle of a baked potato with beans.

No I don't miss them at all!!:mad::banghead:

If you mean the numbers of potatoes I can manage, they are for a single meal, providing there are no other major carbs (such as bread) with that meal and plenty of veggies/fats/protein. I am unlikely to have more than one meal with potatoes in a day.
