Meat and now sugar and carbs!!!
Well, I went right off the rails last night, glass of red wine (for the antioxidants), maybe a few G&Ts (I need quinine to keep malaria at bay) then the inevitable happened and some pringles attacked me and made me eat them. Went to bed very annoyed with myself. This morning my BG was 6.8, lower than yesterday's 7.3.

6.9 immediately out of bed, half hour later and hands washed, my usual time in routine ..5.6 so I'll take that as my fasting. After such a high initial reading I'd made breakfast of half pot Alpro coconut yoghurt, tbsp of chia seeds and good sprinkle of desiccated coconut and stirred well. Should be nice and low at 2hrs after that... :)

That is possibly the effect of the alcohol. Alcohol (spirits and dry wine) can lower blood sugar levels until it is cleared out of the system. They do not tend to raise BS levels as they contain no or few carbs. The tonic may be different (try a sugar free one), and beer will raise levels as there is a lot of sugar in it.

Gin won't raise my BS levels, this sounds like a plan, hic. :woot:
(only teasing, I advocate safe drinking limits)

Hollow it out?
Unfortunately I think the inside maybe allowable....however the pastry is to die for....but given this condition I don't think I'm prepared to pay THAT price

and as for the chips that I used to scoop the innards out with....hmmm

I tested Lager effects on the weekend and didn't have a great effect on my BS!

I was VERY pleasantly surprised - I will try another testing this weekend to corroborate results :)

Do check an hour after your first sip. It reacts quickly. Then again at 90 minutes and 120 minutes. The theory is it raises your levels, sometimes dramatically, then drops them suddenly. Insulin users can get hypos. I have seen it happen.

I'm sure there's more.
An analysis of sugar levels in cider, sherry and spirits found that some drinks contained as many as five teaspoons of sugar in a single serving. By contrast wines and beer contained significantly smaller quantities.

I tested on the hour - every hour and whilst the levels did rise to 8.2 from a 5.6 start point it wasn't as bad as I was really expecting!

its not something I will be doing regular but had to get it straight in my own mind....and I did forego my traditional post drinkypoo Indian! ....hardly sainthood material but I'm trying.....or very trying the wife says

Fasting p this morning to 6.7 - probably due to stress - sodding $%&* husband thinks I should oblige him and eat cornflour because it's more convenient for him if he wants to thicken food :eek: - my refusal to accept this resulted in him more or less telling me I was clueless low carb wise. :banghead: :banghead::banghead:

I expect my blood pressure's through the roof now too.... And NO - I don't feel like being sensible and calming down just yet!

Robbity

Can you see the high carb steam coming out of my ears?? :D
