High BG levels, medication not working

Similar to what happened to me, I was running high for nearly 10 months before they gave me insulin. No amount of dietary changes would bring it down (I had been controlling it by low-carb diet for years before this happened). I had to get really pushy, requested a number of appointments and...

Are others concerned about the roles of Physician Associates in hospitals and GP surgeries?

I've only had one encounter with a PA and sadly it was not good and another doctor had to sort it out. There will be many things they can do though

    Spikes after meals

Yes looks like doctor may need to adjust dose, but diet needs adjusting too! Replace breads and white rice with pulses, beans and brown basmati rice (small portions). Meat and vegetable dishes should be fine unless some extra type of carb is being added. Avoid the sweet puddings. If she keeps...

    Type 1, 2 or LADA?

I would look into Reactive Hypoglycaemia. However, tests that are performed for this are often disappointing. Also, make more use of finger-prick testing . The libre is predictive. If your glucose is dropping it tends to over estimate how low this will go

Libre2 Skin Damage Over Time a Concern

You have made an interesting point, especially for Type 1 users. I am Type 2 and intend to take breaks from using it

    Erratic Freestyle Libre2 sensor displays

My sensors only lose contact from my phone if I have left the room for a while. When I come back it usually rights itself in a few minutes

    Libre 2 sensor and testing

(Type Two) I find that I need to get to know each sensor, as some will give higher results and some lower results than my meter. I had one recently that was very excitable - if it saw a rise it would predict too high, and similarly with lows, it would go shooting down and give readings that were...

I have just about given up trying to get help from Dr’s and Nurses

Don't give up, you have to be persistent and pushy. You deserve to get help for this. Keep trying!

    Reversing T2 With Supplements

It's great to hear of your success, well done! I wonder if you are also taking other measures to control your blood glucose that could be contributing to lower levels? The thing with supplements is that either they are useless and don't impact blood glucose OR they do impact bg but are not being...

Hi! Not yet diabetic, wanting to avoid!

Yes diet is very important, but maintaining muscle mass is also important. Insulin resistance in the skeletal muscles is a driver of type two diabetes. https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC8074531/ So make sure your exercise plan includes things like resistance training. Good luck! I...

    Blood sugar 228 and rising

My diabetes may be different to yours, but in my experience, I haven't produced ketones until at least 360.

Libre2 showing low blood sugar at night

Could you have been lying on your cgm when you were asleep.? The compression can make readings go way down. In general, some cgms seem to work better than others. I'm wearing one at the moment that is giving readings 0.5 to 1mmol lower than my finger-prick tests. Also, they can take a few days...

    May have LADA

My story has some similarities with the above, but I'm not LADA. My downturn was caused by the 3rd Covid booster, which caused a massive immune response and probably damaged my beta-cells. Rapid weight loss and bg in the low 20s ensued. I was put on Glimepiride, which appeared to work for a...

    Metformin brands

I used to be on Metformin sukkarto and could not tolerate what it did to my guts or the yukky metallic taste. I now take Glucophage made by Merck and it is completely different. In particular, no nasty tastes in the mouth and no running to the loo. Such a relief that I can tolerate this brand.

Approaching Abbott for a replacement Libre 2 sensor

I had to request a replacement this week. They were efficient and are sending out a replacement. In the meantime, the one I have put on next is also reading 2mmol lower than my finger-prick. Let's hope it settles down! Both have batch number starting 3MHOOV6C, if that's any use to anyone
