    Honeymoon Period vs No Honeymoon

You'll need the amount you'll need, and I wouldn't overthink it now. With some luck, it will be just as with @In Response and myself, a gradual change until settling down. Neither of us usually have much issues with hypos, even though I use much more insulin than they do. The only times I go...

    Honeymoon Period vs No Honeymoon

We're all different, and the amount of insulin we use is highly individual, no matter if you're still in your honeymoon or not. Some T1's (after honeymoon) need less than 20 units of total (basal and bolus) insulin a day, others need over 200, so the amount I take won't tell you anything about...

BG spikes and eating naked carbs on keto diet

What about using a meter to test before and after meals to see how different meals affect you? A meter has no bias or beliefs in certain ways of eating, it simply shows you what is. I think you'll like to have a read of this, written by one of our members...

    Honeymoon Period vs No Honeymoon

My insulin needs went up slowly for the first 4 or so years until steadying more or less for the past 3. The amount of insulin I need still fluctuates from day to day, but it has stayed more or less the same on average for years now.

What have you eaten today? (Low carb forum)

Very long day working on a ship in freezing cold rain and hail, only getting home at 8 PM. During the work day I had chicory with hummus and some cheese again, after work I was too tired for cooking, or for eating really. I had two beers and then fried a turkey egg with Muenster cheese on top...

solution night lows & day highs basal

I use an unusual solution for a similar issue. I love the steadyness my Tresiba provides, but my basal needs do fluctuate a bit depending on activity, hormones, colour of my socks, and it's impossible to adjust the Tresiba on a daily base. So I got my internist/endo to prescribe both Tresiba...

    I'm an idiot

In addition to the other comments, we don't really do judgemental around here, and if anyone does, just hit the report button to have our moderators look into it. This is a very safe place on the internet, and it's no coincidence that our very first forum rule is this one: 'A1. The Diabetes...

Sugars not going down even after exercise

Hi @AA11 , what about copying your post and starting a new thread in one of the non T1 sections with your pasted post? You can then delete your posts on this thread. :)

"What have you eaten" Parallel Chat

Made the phonecall and have an appointment for friday with an unknown to me GP, let's hope they are nice. Physio told me he didn't think it was the herniated disk but simply something due to working to long looking up, which is good, and it should resolve by itself. :) He also told me to try to...

What have you eaten today? (Low carb forum)

Very long and very enjoyable workday during which I had chicory and hummus (brought from home) and cheese (my skipper's) twice. I had a plan for an evening meal with leek, cheese and shawarma meat, but after coming home at 7:15 pm, no motivation for cooking. No problem, this new LC bread I...

Is switching to an insulin pump worth it?

Both injections and pumps are good options, a lot depends on personal preference and on what is available. I'm on injections by choice. According to your profile, you'r on Lantus insulin only, is this correct? Lantus is a long acting insulin, and if you don't need a quick acting insulin with...

    8mm needles

The most common needles used nowadays are 4 mm. I prefer 5 or 6. I've never had 8 mm prescribed but I've used them for a week when I had borrowed from another diabetic after I'd forgotten my own. They all work fine for me.

Hi and Alternative Treatments? count me in!

And to make things more confusing, in the Netherlands (where @JoKalsbeek and I live), artritis usually refers to rheumathoid arthritis, and the effects of wear and tear are called artrose, which is also inflammatory but somehow different. With all this confusion I understand Jo using the...

"What have you eaten" Parallel Chat

I had the day off work due to swimming in the morning (non negotiable), and an appointment with the physio in the afternoon which was already planned before I agreed on this job, which left me with no time slots making it worth driving back and forth to work. I made good use of the extra time by...

What have you eaten today? (Low carb forum)

I found out my local supermarket sells more varieties of LC bread than the last time I looked, thanks to @JoKalsbeek posting about it on this forum. Funny how information on stuff in Dutch supermarkets can get back to me through a UK forum. :hilarious: I've steered clear of the bread isle for...

    Feet

I would see a GP, diabetes nurse or podiatrist if I had any worries about my feet.

Don't laugh (or do), why am I going low every time I share a bed with my friend?

Just delete the app from your phone and use your phone browser, works pretty well. I tried the app once and deleted it again within the hour, didn't understand it at all.

I'm with you on the neck. There's a herniated disc or two there that have been doing well for a couple of months until I did some jobs looking up last week and the week before, and now my neck is angry with me again. Physio tomorrow, bracing for a telling off...

What have you eaten today? (Low carb forum)

Still, your food on sunday had me wishing I would have shared your meals, no matter what it looked like! (Except for the Pepsi Max, but I wouldn't have minded to drink the rum neat so even that would have worked out.)
