Hi Everyone

I have a 6 year old son who is type 1 since Feb this year
We have been doing really well as a family with the diabetes with the help of lovely people on this forum and the diabetes team.

For the last few days my sons bcg have been between 12 to 15 for breakfast and lunch. His ketones have been checked and they are fine however we are worried and not sure if we have to increase his dosage. At present he is having 5.5 units of lantus at night and is on 4 units of novo rapid during breakfast.

Am waiting for a call back from the nurse for advice on what to do but thought i would post on here in the meantime if someone can give any advice etc.

Thanks again to everyone.

I do not have diabetes
My son is 6 also it's been 2 years now since he was diagnosed seems forever. To be honest we only ever listen to our nurses with regards his levels and altering his doseage. We will happily alter it on our own but we always make a quick call to back up what we do. Over time you'll get used to altering it on your own.

this is for background only and just to help you get your head around it. to understand what and why the nurse is telling you stuff, after a while you will tell her what you think should happen and she will agree or tell you where you went wrong
this is for basal bolus and your son may be on a pump, but it gives an idea

There is an online course for background and an idea to it. Free to register
