Hi,
I’ve been on Bydureon 1 a week for 2 weeks now, but I’m having terrible sickness nearly all week, can I take anti sickness tablets like stematil?
Is anyone else suffering with sickness and taking anti sickness tablets.
Any help would be appreciated
Thank you in advance.

Hi,

I'm sorry that you are having such a rough time with the Bydureon. This is a recognised side effect of this class of drugs, and is a pity because this class has useful benefits.

Bydureon (long acting exenatide) is less likely to cause vomiting than semaglutide:-

Bydureon is less likely to cause vomiting than plain exenatide or liraglutide:-

Not sure how bydureon compares to dulaglutide, but I doubt that dulaglutide is better.

You can ask your GP about anti-sickness tablets when a pro-kinetic agent such as metoclopramide or domperidone might help, but something like stemetil probably won't help because it acts in a different fashion; none of these are without side effects, but the risk of side effects with the pro-kinteic agents is low

I am sure other forum members have experienced this and can tell you how likely it is to go away with time. it is a recognsied effect and it does decrease with time, but my experience of prescribing these agents is that if the side effectsa are very severe to start with, they generally do not resolve adequately with time.

We are not allowed to give treatment advice on this website, but I suspect that your healthcare professional has seen this problem before, he/she knows you well and can give advice on the other options.

Best wishes
