Confused, upset and want to give up

I was diagnosed t2 a while back. I posted a couple of weeks ago about my mental health and having to A&E with pancreatitis.
My doctor (if I can call him that) phoned me yesterday saying from my blood tests my blood sugar levels are too high which I’m already on 2 medications for. He said he has to refer me to a diabetes specialist nurse as it’s likely I could need insulin and also be type 1/LADA. So I’m a little scared and nervous. I thought if it was that they’d sort it asap yet I’m having to wait to be reffered whilst being so unwell.
I was upset at work, my blood sugars went sky high, I felt like I was going to pass out and went clammy.

After pancreatitis, quite a few people develop T3c: basically the pancreas gets so damaged/scarred, the insulin-output just isn't what it should be, or stops all together. Ironically enough, a lot of GP's have never heard of T3c, so you're better off with a specialist. Particularly since, if this is what's going on, you will indeed need insulin; a diet and meds that increase sensitivity or force output where where is none to force, aren't going to make a dent, if you don't produce enough of your own insulin anymore.

We can't diagnose on here, and a lot of what I'm saying is pure speculation, but a specialist diabetes nurse, well, sometimes they know a thing or two, and sometimes they don't. You could ask for a referral to an endo, which might be better far as diagnosis goes, because it sounds like someone's just playing a guessing game now, and not actually knowing what tests to order for you.

And if at any time your numbers literally do go sky high and you feel ill, just call 111 and ask them for advice. Add in that there is uncertainty about your type at this point in time, but you likely are T1,5 or T3c which is all still being investigated, and you're currently ill. They'll let you know what to do next.

I do hope you'll feel better soon and get some answers!

Thankyou for the advice. I’m just trying not to worry and get worked up. Unfortunately my doctor in general is useless and had never been helpful, he’s the same one who told me to go hospital yet a few days before that said nothing when I expressed my concerns. At least I know I’ll me in better hands with a specialist

I hope so. Just keep in mind that if you do feel ill, and your blood sugars are high, you need help, okay? I don't know what type you have, you not have heard anything definite either, so better call for help more than required, than once too few. You're not being a bother if you ask for assistance, okay? Good. ;)

PS: Not trying to scare you, but just, you know... If you don't know what's going on yet, with no conclusive results, you have to go from the assumption that ketoacidosis could happen when you're too high and feeling ill at the same time. That is always an emergency, so do not hesitate to ask for help when your breath smells fruity, you feel wobbly, confused or sick, okay? Better safe than sorry. And if any mods are reading along, if I'm barking up the wrong tree here, do kick my hiney.

Hello @Soph895 Getting you onto insulin will make you feel better when your bloods come back into range, high glucose levels do make you feel poorly as the body is stressed at trying to get rid of the extra glucose, so keeping your emotions in check too will help greatly to prevent the hormones being released which cause the liver to dump extra glucose.

Do not be afraid to get help though if you're feeling unwell, if you do develop DKA then you will need to go to hospital straight away.

Hopefully you will be seen soon and can get more specialist help, but more importantly get those glucose levels back down too.

I remember when I was diagnosed with diabetes, I saw a locum doctor and they had no idea what to do and they said pee on this strip and that alone went through the roof before he said come back tomorrow and see your proper doctor and get a blood test well next day I went and done the same thing as the day before and before I knew anything they were on the phone to the hospital to get me a bed and I was there for a while and that was because my because my pancreas had stopped working and I wasn’t making insulin but 10 weeks later I was making insulin again and now I make insulin but the wrong one and I have to take two different ones five times a day but that didn’t give me a chance but after the 10 weeks I didn’t have to give myself insulin because I was taken off it for a few weeks and then I was put on it again and that was for a short period and now I’m on it for life but you don’t need to worry your among friends on here and we always look after each other and when one has a problem we put whatever we are doing to come to them no matter when
