"Daily Health Alert" this is the name of an E-magazine to which I subscribe, but not for long.I don`t know if any of you have heard of it but all they go on about is "Big Pharma" that is their collective name for Pharmaceutical/medical companies and how they rip people off. They (the E-Mag)tell you about all kinds of cures for just about everything and promise you a free newsletter that tells you all about inexpensive cures and secrets. Here is the catch:to qualify for the "free" newsletter you just send them an annual subscription of 59 Dollars to some address in America. How is that free? I have already cancelled the E-Mag Kenny

I have subscribed to this for years. It was a welcome breath of fresh air before I discovered this forum. It may be a waste of money but I enjoy reading it and have received a lot of help from the articles.

Good move, the net is full of scams so you do have to be careful.
This 'scam' has helped me improve my blood pressure without drugs and alerted me to a possible deficiency in vit d amongst other things.

Well that is good @zand :)

The OP mentions ''cures and secrets'' in the E-Mag which always concerns me.

Yes I agree. They are more like old remedies which have been forgotten than secrets. I see the annual fee as a way to cover their postage and admin costs. When I joined up I was told about the fee right away. I think it is the stealthy way in which it has been collected that alerted the OP and rightly so. There is no need for that. We know that organisations have costs to cover but hiding those fees is sneaky - just like a scam. I would have done the same thing in the OP's situation.

edit: I am so glad this thread was started - it reminded me to order more vit d :)

I could not disagree that "Big Pharma" are out to make money for their shareholders.

On the other hand when a drug will cost about £ 0.75 billion to develop, test and bring to market, plus they have only 20 years after the patent is granted (development and clinical trials are part of that 20 years) to recoup their costs, it's hardly surprising why drugs are very expensive.

Tony Benn had an idea, Government should fund drug development. Might have worked 30 years ago, it would die now because of lack of funding.
