Hi
i have been fairly settled over the last few years but between February to May, I was struggling to keep my sugars in check despite being well controlled in terms of LCHF and also exercising regularly.
Most notably, it did not matter how many veggies I ate or water I drank, I would regularly be stuck solid, or doing a time for 100m to the loo that Usain Bolt wouldn't argue with.
When I fell from 10st 5.5lb to 9st 8 in a couple of months (without trying) I was sent for a full blood work up and checks for bowel cancer.
I was relieved when it was a diagnosis of colitis, but I would be interested to see if another other LCHF followers have even diagnosed with this condition and how they get on? Many thanks.

I'm sorry to hear about your struggles.
I know absolutely nothing about colitis (thankfully), but the search bar at the top of the page can be very helpful to find older posts on subjects like this.
Also tagging @lovinglife , whi I think has some knowledge and experience on the subject.

I have something but I haven't been diagnosed. It acts like ibs-d.
Chrohns and ibs-d are in my family too.
Idk how similar these all are to colitis but I hope you find your answers needed.

Well quick update - saw the dietician the other week who was aware I was a diabetic and low-carbing - she is nice, has a good sense of humour in telling me not to google low FODMAP and then get all scared, and will be seeing her again next week. Because I have been using a Libre sensor for years now, she is fairly comfortable in finding my triggers fairly sensibly, and I carb count in My Fitness pal and have my food diary in there, so I seem to be ahead of the game of her usual referrals.

I saw the consultant at the IBD clinic - he feels that we caught things nice and early and we will see how I go with the meds and the hassle of working away for most of July to boot.
The meds.. the anti-inflams have sort of settled things down but for the first few weeks I had shocking heartburn. add to that leg cramps from a new diabetic med and it has been quite a miserable month and a half, but finally seem to be finding my appetite again.

It’s so unfair when you can be doing everything right, you feel in top of things, then get side swiped with something out of the blue. Bowel issues are so painful, so nasty on every level. I feel a ton of empathy for you. The heart burn, is it GERD (gastro esophageal reflux disease)?. Is it the meds or is it down to the colitis that’s causing the acid reflux ? I don’t have colitis, but I have coeliac which causes GERD , duodenal ulcers , IBS and all the other nasties. GERD needs managing, but I’m sure your consultant is all over that too. GERD puts you at risk of Barrett’s disease. So do mention it, if you haven’t already.

I have Crohn’s disease and have had an ileostomy for 37 years, diabetes for about 10 years, I’m on insulin as my body does not absorb the tablets. I struggle with controlling my blood glucose levels. Sometimes I am too low and sometimes sky high, for no obvious reason.
Crohn’s disease and colitis are both inflammatory bowel disease. Colitis usually just affects the large bowel but Crohn’s can affect anywhere from mouth to rectum.

I have coeliac and my blood sugars are all over the place too, nothing to do with what I eat.
