Diabetic neuropathy?

Hi Guys I was diagnosed with type 2 15 months ago. My a1c was 12.6 which was a surprise as I was always fit. I am currently 41 years old, with a lot of hard work I got my a1c down to 5.5. It had been 5.5 to 5.6 consistently for the last year. However I have been having pain in and cramps in my calf muscles, i went to a specialist had a number of tests for peripheral arterial disease. PAD. was negative, in fact he told me I had the blood flow and blood pressure of a 20 year old athlete. He has advised me it could be neuropathy and advised me to have a test done... Sounds simple, problem is while Im originally from the UK I now live in Indonesia and my doctor has advised me there is no credabile doctor which can perform that test in this country. My question is this, from everything I have read neuropathy should not start a year after a1c levels have been in the normal range, and come on so quickly, literally I woke up one morning with pain in my calfs which has not went for the last two months. Us thus possible.... Please help

I have only two comments which may/may not answer it.

1. Statins caused me calf pain so if you are on statins then talk to your doctor about it.

2. Low salt intake causes calf cramps. If you changed to a LCHF then your salt intake will probably have gone down and real food needs some added salt, not a lot. Currently the recommendation is up to 6gms a day.

Other possible causes besides salt deficiency - magnesium, potassium, Vitamin B12 deficiencies.

Hi Guys, diagnosed with type 2. 16 months ago, I'm originally from northern Ireland however been living on Indonesia for the last 3 years where medical care and advice to say the least is in the dark ages, and I stated having leg pains and cramps for the last 3 years, had several tests for peripheral arterial disease.(PAD) which where all negative, in fact I was told I had the blood flow and blood pressure of a 20 year old athlete. Was advised it could be neuropathy and to see a specialist outside of the country. Which makes no sense as for the last year my A1c has been 5.5 to 5.6 normal range, is it possible for neuropathy to start a full year after blood sugar levels have been within normal range
