Exocrine and endo function of the pancreas

Hello,

Im reaching out to any obese people/overweight people with Either diabetes or pre diabetes.

Did the onset of this condition trigger any digestive issues and if yes, what were they?

My pancreas seems to be overworked, both the digestive side of it (exocrine) and glucose (endo)

Thanks
Alicki

Hi @maliki.

I think @Brunneria has a link to what happens when insulin is the overwhelming factor in causing obesity.
I had that problem.
When I very low carbed, as I must do, the amount of insulin decreases and insulin resistance has abated.
Because of that the weight dropped off quite slowly but surely!

Hope that helps!

Hello dear forum friend! Ive got the ultrasound endoscope to do yet but in my case it feels like both functions have Gone crazy. Im taking digestive enzymes (papaye) and cutting fat because it doesnt go down well. No dairy. fruit is back to Ok. Ive Heard about "overworked" pancreas and thats what i think i ve got and pancreatic insufficiency caused by obésité. But thats my theory - Having trouble eating enough though - Will have the date for the endoscopic ultrasound, hopefully this week . If that shows nothing, then it Will be labelled as purely metabolic - hold me in your thoughts.... back to metabolic doc tomorrow(our GPs are really for basic things, we re a land of spécialistes) good or bad, i dont know

I'm good, I'm enjoying this wonderful weather we are having, mid twenties, really nice for a change!
Yes, we do need our specialists whilst getting a proper diagnosis.
I just don't know where I would be without mine!

I do wish you well and good fortune with the tests, I know being a sort of guinea pig in a laboratory is not ideal and its worse when they really don't really know what is going on and why it happens. And sometimes they don't tell you what they are thinking and don't know how to treat it as this condition of ours is unusually rare and not much correct treatment advice is not out there!

My endocrinologist thinks outside the box for how he got to where I am and took a gamble on my meds and how they helped me as a safety insurance for the hypers and hypos. But as he didn't know the cause, how could he know how to treat it, it wasn't till we had met a few times did he concede that a very, very low carb diet is how I control the condition the best way and he is telling me to adjust my carb counting to ensure that my body is functioning as good as he thought it would be and when he seen that all the deterioration of my endocrine system had reversed itself and how my general health and well being for a man of my age, he had to concede that how I looked after myself was the key to others that have a weight, insulin resistance, poor blood glucose levels and types of diabetes.
I was teaching him that very low carb isn't as dangerous as most medical practitioners would allow his patients to use. To me that's something I never would have thought of when I first met him. I just can't praise him enough, he saved my life for recognising that what I had was so unusual and so far out of the field that it surprised him.
He could have just stopped with the diagnosis and then he found another RH er and decided to use us both as lab rats and everything he tried except not going hypo worked!

Waffling now, but when something like this happens to you, you are eternally grateful.

Don't worry too much, regardless of what happens, this condition of wharever type of hypoglycaemia you have, it will more than likely be controlled by doing what works.
A very low carb diet.

Wishing you the best!

Hi,

Sorry @nosher8355 , not sure which link you mean... But insulin is almost always the overwhelming factor in obesity. Cortisol is a possibility, but much rarer. They are the hormones needed to build fat deposits. Without them we cannot gain weight. When they are excessive and we have hormone resistance, that is when the weight builds.

Have a read of Jason Fung's website or read his book The Obesity Code. It explains it all.

Yep, so true, but you did put a video about how insulin is not detected as a cause of diabetes and insulin resistance.
I think you put it on one of threads in our forum.
A woman gives a talk showing graphs of high insulin.

That's all I can remember but it made me think a lot about finding about insulins role.

Great video for me!!! Ok, I don't have diabetes, not sure to have insulin issues, even if they are just an effect of being overweight

I totally agree about it being insulin imbalance and the response either initial or latent, there is definitely a trigger not working somewhere between the relative response of glucose, glycogen and glucagon and the 'overshoot' of insulin.

Too technical and scientific for this time of the day!

Drink water! You need to drink more water especially with the hot weather.
On a low carb diet and also you've stopped eating manufactured food, so your salt is probably low.
Put some salt on your protein of your next meal, I always season my fresh meat, more taste after cooking!
