Been type 2 since 1996. Asked to go on insulin in 1997 as the medication I was on just didn't control it. Since going on insulin control my own injections, judged by regular testing and what I eat. Do have fairly regular appts with diabetic nurse, every 6 months ish. She doesn't like me doing it my way. Would much rather I stuck to regular planned doses each meal - but my quarterly tests are late 6s, early 7s, so I think I'm doing OK!
