soaps on telly and people talking about the characters as if they were real.
I never seem to find the lowest point of our local diabetic care. Just when I think they've hit it, they pull out anoher one. It's not me but my T1 husband. He had an eye lasered a week or 2 ago and yesterday, unknown to me, he had cloudy vision in that eye. He needed to go to the hospital for blood samples anyway, so dropped in on Eye Casualty. the doctor there looked at it and said it might well be one of the lasered vessels seeping as it shrinks, but that he needs to make an appointment with the diabetic eye clinic. On his way out, he tried to do that and was told by the receptionist, that they "aren't allowed do that". I asked him why he didn't just go back to the doctor to complain, but he says he was in a hurry to get back to work and that he will write to the diabetic eye consultant. I've told him to phone at least.
My husband has a talent for not asking the right questions or taking hold of situations. This man has 2 degrees and as much commonsense as our baby granddaughter. He'd be dead by now if he had to rely on the NHS, without me to chase them up. I don't know who I'm angrier with, them or him

Its not just me then that is having difficulties with the NHS.

My diabetic care seems to be non-existance. I never seem to be able to get an appointment with the doctor.
The lovely helpful diabetic nurse has left the practise. I am on my own dealing with diabeties not to mention a very sick husband who also has serious medical problems.

I could just scream at the NHS.

I think i must have decided i will have to treat myself, as noone else is available.

Hi Maybelle,
If you read some of my postings on this forum, you will see that I have not exactly had good diabetic care either. It took me 5 years just to find out I was entitled to see a diabetes specialist, so I went in to my D.N. and just said I want to see Dr. B.(my local diabetologist recommended by a fellow site member) and within 2 minutes of seeing him, I knew it was the best thing I ever did. If you are not getting the care you are entitled to, be assertive and insist on referral. Good luck.

I know it sounds mad, but one clinic in the NHS cannot access another clinics appointments. I think it is about confidentiality. Also clinic A would not be able to tell how many doctors clinic B had for that clinic, so would not know if they where overbooking etc.
