Gastroparesis

Hi there, I have had diabetes for 20 years most of which have been poorly controlled. I started to get these bouts of sickness early last year which were put down to alcohol, ear infection and goodness knows what else. I have now been assigned a specialist diabetes nurse who's aim is to keep me out of hospital. My nurse and consultant and pretty sure I have Gastroparesis. I can't have tests yet due to high hba1c.
I can go months and be fine but sometimes only weeks. I start feeling sick and then start being sick and it doesn't stop for days. The nausea is totally debilitating and I can eat or drink nothing usually ending up with a hospital admission due to dehydration and starvation ketones. Oddly triggers seem to be lack of sleep, stress and def alcohol. I don't feel pain and different foods don't seem to be a trigger.
Does anyone else out there have the same kind of symptoms or have they got it wrong???
All opinions greatly appreciated,,,

Tamx,
I have suffered from similar symptoms, plus severe acid reflux for a very long time. I think gastroparesis may be the problem, it is what I was diagnosed with. Following several months of extreme hard work controlling my blood sugars and trying to reduce alcohol intake and stress, I can say that my symptoms have reduced so much that I don't notice them any more. My consultant said that perhaps I changed my lifestyle in time for the damaged I was doing not to be a perminent state. Here's hoping . . . .

I know that it can be very difficult, and that none of us wants diabetes to rule our lives, but perhaps changing your lifestyle now and taking control of your diabetes now could prevent this from being a permanent state.

I'm sorry, it is extremely difficult, I've been there . . . .

Many thanks... It is really difficult... But knowing that it is possible to turn things around should really be incentive to sort myself out!
