My type1 18 year old daughter has been suffering bouts of extreme diahorrea and stomach cramps for weeks/months now. The GP just says it is probably a bug, but I would like her tested for coeliac disease as this is in the family, and I know it can go with Type 1 diabetes.
Anyway having had her dinner at around 7pm and her normal bolus insulin for the meal and nightly Lantus, she went to bed with a blood sugar reading of around 7 at 11pm. At 2am she had extreme diahorrea for an hor or so and in the early morning (5am approx) having eaten nothing else since her evening meal her blood reading was 21!!
Can anyone explain this, please?
