I learnt carb counting from the get go and had loads of support. I had mixed insulin (fast and slow acting mixed together twice a day) but I'm on the same as you now Nova Rapid and Lantus. To be honest I like them separate you have more control of your bloods because you are taking what you need for the amount of carbs you are consuming. Download the carbs and calories app (you can get this on iPhone and Andriod phones) best thing to use you can get the book but the app is constantly being updated. You can select the foods you are eating and it tells you how many carbs you are having. I take 1 unit of Nova Rapid for every 10grams of carbs. So a regular sandwich for example will be around 5/6 depending on the filling. You can record your blood readings on there and link it with your meals and how much insulin you take. I would definitely recommend this to start off its a lot of work but you learn very quickly. Please don't think your alone or your bothering anyone with the way you feel xx
I've been diagnosed Type 1 for a year now and I'm starting to struggle at the moment. I just think we all will have moments it's a bit change don't beat yourself up about it. Definitely don't think your contacting your diabetic nurse too much that's what they are there for.
