Your doctors sound dangerously clueless, I really would try as hard as you can to get a different one (BTDT) sounds like they are dismissing all your symptoms as "mental" As to your blood sugar, at least you can test this for yourself if you buy a meter from your pharmacy, the meters don't cost much but the strips do. Likewise for blood pressure monitors. You can get your BG tested at many pharmacies but it may not mean much, it sounds from your symptoms as if you may have Reactive Hypoglycemia where your BG goes high immediately after eating but your pancreas is still capable of producing pleanty of insulin albeit late, which causes your BG to drop rapidly, so try eating something fairly carby then testing 1/2 hour 1 2 3 and 4 hours afterwards http://www.alt-support-diabetes.org/NewlyDiagnosed.htm this can be an early stage of diabetes and like "impaired" glucose tolerance the earlier you start to control it the more likely you are to slow down or halt the progression to "real" diabetes and reverse some of your symptoms. In view of your family history you may actually have one of the "rare" forms of diabetes like one of the MODYs http://projects.exeter.ac.uk/diabetesgenes/index.htm unfortunately with your current doctors you'll never know
