Hi, I would like to introduce myself, my name is Jess, I live in Bedford and was diagnosed type 2 just over a year ago, I have been struggling with medication as metformin makes me sick, so I am moving onto insulin injections in the next few weeks, I had some abnormal liver function tests so has meant a delay while I was seen by the liver specialist but looks like all good…. I am a mum of 3 and nanny to a beautiful granddaughter… my youngest daughter is a type 1 diabetic and was diagnosed aged 6 in full DKA she is now 15, she is on Medtronic 750g pump with guardian sensors on a amazing closed loop system. Will be looking forward to engaging in the forums and checking out the low carb recipes!!

Hi, new to the Forum. I was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes three weeks ago.
I was prescribed Metformin standard which made me really sick, now I am taking Metformin slow release 500mgw hich I seem to be able to tolerate at the moment.
I would be interested to know if anyone has had any issues with Metformin ?

im type 1 diabetic and was diagnosed in may of 2021, both my older brother and mum are also diabetic. I struggle with my diabetes a lot and I feel like I've still not accepted it. I think im still in the honeymoon phase as ill go months without taking it until im made to do it but it never lasts long. I know the dangers of not taking it as I've been told I could die in a year or two and all the problems that comes before dying but it doesn't affect me or make me want to take it but I feel like i'm starting to face the dangers as I was in hospital last week because of it. I want to get better at controlling my diabetes but it just feels too much and me not taking it means I don't have to think about diabetes therefore I don't have it. I do want to get better but its a big struggle for me so if you know ways to let me know please.
I don't really have anyone or anything to just let this out to at, ik my family have diabetes but I don't like to talk to them about it as it seems they don't understand how I'm feeling. Sorry for the rant!!

Over time I am grateful for the body I have but would say my feet

My partner is a non compliant diabetic . I cannot say if he is type 1, 2 or 1.5 . He has run into complications now due to an injury and has been advised to take his health seriously. After years of me begging him he is going to try get it sorted . I hope it’s not too late for him .
I am worried that they will put him on something that will make him sick as he is immobile at the moment . Fingers crossed he gets sorted

I have 2 cats, well actually tomcats.
I like listening to punk and rock music. I'm married and have 2 children. I trained as a dental administrative assistant, but I decided to go back to university. I'm studying social work and I almost enjoy it. In my free time I play theatre, like to be outdoors and enjoy hiking.
I have had type I diabetes for more than 20 years. I have had an insulin pump almost from the beginning, currently the Ypsopump. I've only had the glucose sensor for about a year and the Loop since last November. I don't think it's running smoothly yet, especially because the Loop is so slow to respond.
