[QUOTE="Glorietta, post: 854079, member: 182816"] Hi everyone, I am 45 years old, female, married with 2 children, working full time in NHS. I was diagnosed with Type 2 DM, 5 years ago with fasting BG 11.5. I was started on Metformin SR 1gram once a day and Simvastatin, after 2 years later my meds was increased to 2grams once a day and statin changed to Atorvastatin (stronger apparently). I knew that my results were going up so I started to eat low GI carb, but i still eat bread (i love bread) i always make cinnamon roll. I had the shock of my life this month as my HbA1c went up from 42 to 73. I told myself, hang on a minute this is not right, i need to do someting, i don't want to have all the complications of diabetes. First thing I did, i looked for help online and joined Diabetes UK. I find all the forum very helpful, (i read almost all of them). I downloaded the recipes and i ordered a glucometer to do self-monitoring. I even ordered coconut flour and almond flour, just in case i crave for bread. So far, for 3 days now i did not have carb (no rice, no bread, no potatoes, no pasta). I will try my best to carry on this diet (God give me strength) My glucometer will be arriving in 2-3 days and my next blood test is in August....wish me luck.....'till then. Thanks everyone.
