The following talk was given last month at the Predictive and Preventative Medicine Summit held at the First Moscow State Medical University. Professor Trevor Marshall discusses a lot of recent research in autoimmunity, including discussion of 2 papers on diabetes (one paper on Type 1/one paper on Type 2) and the use of the BP drug olmesartan as an immunity modulator. Lots of interesting subjects covered in the talk, including electrosmog and autoimmunity.

For those interested in following up on some of the papers mentioned, this paper contains the illustration of the autoimmune comorbidity wheel that illustrates the various disease conditions that tend to cluster:

The paper on Hormonal Signalling in the Gut and BG control:

Prof Rubino's paper in the Lancet (in the talk the Prof mentions Type 1 when discussing this paper - but I'm sure he meant to say Type 2 based on the contents of the paper):

My guess is the latter two papers are where the sudden push for bariatric surgery for all Type 2's is coming from?
