Not sure if anyone can help please, basically made a massive **** up on my life insurance.

Had been with same company since Feb 09 but found a better offer at end of June 2013, so decided to change provider starting 28th July 2013. Sorted out my cover etc and it was all ready to begin, however on the 5th August I was diagnosed as type 1 diabetic, my Mum works in insurance and told me to write to company explaining this and saying that it shouldnt effect my insurance, unfortunately though after months of backwards and forwards letters they wont insure me under the cover as I had booked my doctors appointment on the 24th as I hadn't been feeling well (obviously!) so therefore they say I should have informed them of this

They say I can re apply in 6 months time once I have had future check ups etc. I have declined this option as I would rather just start again from fresh with no get outs for whoever I go with. Really frustrated as if I had stayed with existing company I would have been covered or if I had moved a month earlier I would have been fine too!

Has anybody got experience of companies who are good with diabetics, as all the quotes I can get online are based on a healthy individual and they would then phone me to go through medical info when the premium would obviously go up, I just want to do 1 application rather than have 7 or 8 floating around for months awaiting the best deal.

My hba1c test is next week and my next diabetic appointment is first week of Feb, my previous hba1c was 118 so I am pretty confident my next will be a lot better but obviously I need to get it sorted asap just in case anything happens to me, as my wife wouldnt be able to pay mortgage
thanks

I shopped around for life cover to get the best deal, there are specialist insurance brokers that deal with people who have diabetes but from my own experience they were no cheaper than the rest, get as many quotes as you can and go with the one that offers the best deal on price and policy terms.

As a financial adviser I would recommend you seek independent advice as they will be able to help you.
