From what I can see and have experienced is..... if a type2 on insulin has constant hypos its time to reduce their insulin with the help of their diabetic team. So basically that insulin taker is taking more carbs to please their hypos or avoid hypos. To lose weight on insulin as an insulin resistant is to make sure the carbs arent dictating more insulin. Having a none excessive carb diet if you have one now will help you lose weight as a type2 on insulin. What im finding now ive lost nearly 4stone is that I just cannot tolerate certain foods anymore. If I have some fatty dairy foods now I cannot tolerate them and have digestive problems on them. Not a bad thing some people think considering I'm still just over 9stones overweight. I'm delighted with my weight loss to date. I now weigh less than I was when I first started insulin therapy this time (other 2 times as been when pregnant). I'm unable to do proper exercise due to a bad back so i try and keep supple and walk in pain most of the time. I'm confident any type2 on insulin can reduce weight if its due to too much insulin to cover too many carbs.....and in some cases too much protein. Fat just slows the digestive process. THE MOST IMPORTANT THING TO DO IS TEST 6-8 TIMES DAILY AND MORE TO PREVENT HYPOS. HYPOS ARE GUARANTEED ON LOWER CARBS AND SAME INSULIN UNITS. SO TEST, TEST, TEST AND REDUCE IF HYPOS ARE OCCURING. DONT FORGET TO HAVE PLENTY OF HYPO REMEDIES AT HAND. Ask your diabetic team for support.
