My 43 year old son was diagnosed T2 two years ago. Fifth generation of T2 males in our family. A year ago, weighing 19st 10lbs he started low carbing and today has lost exactly 6st!!! His bg readings have dropped from a regular 14 - 24 down to a regular 4.6 - 5.1. He's been medication free for a month now, as well as coming off blood pressure meds months ago. I'm so proud of him. He also inspired me to try and in the last few months, although being a skinny diabetic, have managed to control my bg in the safety zone. I know we're all different, and don't want to give false hope but it's got to be worth a try eh? I also intermittently fast, but only by leaving out breakfast each day. I found this easy and feel better for it. I am losing a bit too much weight now and have to up my fats a bit. I eat mainly meat, eggs and vegetables. My guilty pleasure is a slice of bread each day from a Lidls low GI cob; a tasty seeded loaf. It works for me, although my son never touches bread. I hope this inspires anyone thinking of trying the lchf diet to give it a try.
