Medical support!?

I have seen adverts, messages, read blogs, general info on diabetes and they all say you should work with your health professionals.
All great but what, where do you go if your health professionals don't seem to offer that support, advice. My sugars have been all over the place in the last several months. Every time I try and discuss this with my gp all I get told is keep an eye on it, adjust your insulin, but not requested to come and seem them to see how things go.Do a blood test in 3 months. Gps are not specialists and I was hoping they would refer me to the hospital(last done over 10yrs ago when first diagnosed)so that I would have peace of mind.
So I have taken things into my own hands. I excercise twice a week, still eat what I like but am careful. Had my last blood test which showed my sugars were back in the normal range. I was so pleased, I asked if I could reduce my insulin now to see if there would be any changes etc., but told no you must stay on the same dose or you will end up in trouble. That is not the type of relationship I want with my health care team. I know my body better than anyone, I regularly check my levels, monitoring closely.
I find it so frustrating and annoying.
Rant over!

Hi. It interests me that you still eat what you like (with some care). T2s normally have to reduce the carbs in the diet and it's probably not an option for you. Ignore any NHS diet advice to eat lots of carbs. Do you have excess weight? If so, that might imply your diet isn't right. Metformin tablets would normally be started together with a low-carb diet before insulin. Were you using tablets before the insulin. Taking insulin when a T2 can cause conflicts as you may already have too much insulin if you have insulin resistance and injecting more can encourage blood sugar fluctuations and weight gain if you eat too much. Let us know more as there is a hint that your GP doesn't know too much about diabetes - I'm guessing of course.

People telling me how to control my diabetes. My health. Isms. People walking their dogs off leads in illegal areas. Meat that bleeds. Late buses.
Demand a referral to a clinic. Take a food diary though. 'eat what I like' throws your whole post up in the air really. Your diet could be doing all sorts of things to your levels. Your sugars being in range indicates your current medication is working, therefore I understand why your Dr would be reluctant to change it at this time. Lowering your levels further may provoke them to do so.
