Meters... 1 or 2

I have had the glucorx meter from the practice for 18 months.I am Type 1 caused by pancreatitis. I have had 6 hospital admissions since April 2015. not due to diabetes but illness impacts on it. each time they asked me to test ketones but my practice nurse ignores this plea. Last week I was admitted and got to see the diabetic team. They changed all my insulins, nut for the better. They gave me a new GlucomenLX plus meter and instructions on ketone testing, along with other education for the insulin. I go to the practice nurse today who says why do I need to do ketone testing and use my old machine for blood monitoring and the new on only for ketones, Does this seem right? should I pursue to use one meter? do I have to carry both meters? Do others have to do this? any comments people?

I actually have two meters. One for sugars, one for ketones. Simply because I prefer my Aviva expert over the neo
