Football. Bad manners.
A good day today - I saw my first swallow :D , I have lost 4 lbs after about 6 weeks of being stuck :D , and I have had my first session with our podiatrist.

A really nice young woman, who is friendly, helpful, explains everything, understands diabetes as well as feet, understands weight loss problems and also shares my condition of magnetic attraction to bottles of red wine (they jump into our shopping trolleys uninvited! and then evaporate once the cork is out, who knows where? ).

Anyway - my feet are fine, but she has put me on self-referral so that I can go back to her when I feel I need to - which will be longer than the normal once-every-three-months appointment system.

Also - I was discussing with her my walking problems, which are a combination of weak muscles, a partly-torn anterior cruciate ligament, arthritic joints, and muscle spasms when my back seizes solid (it's not as bad as it sounds, honest!) and she has referred me to a clinic at our local hospital where all the relevant specialists get together, work out the problem, and offer solutions with the help of a physio.

I've been trying to get something like this for years, but just get the usual 'lose weight, you'll be fine' from the GP. It took six years and a fine display of hysterics on my part to find out about the torn ligament. I'm prepared to do anything to stop waddling and get my fluid long-legged walk back - or a near approximation thereof, allowing for age - and at last I feel I'm getting somewhere!

So - pestering the GP to get referred to her has paid off. The podiatrist is the best thing that's happened to me in a long time!

Hi VIV
great news i have missed my appointments so far due to bad tiiming however my Dn prescribed me some balm for my poorly circulative problem ( were deep purple now pink skin again) may sound mad to people who don't have the problem . I am looking forward to seeing my pod. My legs are not a very nice sight (blue again) Can.t do much for them at the moment but i am getting a wheel chair and some crutches soon so i am going to be doing my absolute best to loose more weight hope fully leading to my spinal surgery being a success .Thankyou for your apprasel the other day :D
