The Hba1c is the main diagnostic tool for Type 2 and pre
38 is in the normal range and does not indicate type 2 or pre diabetes.
Up to 42 is considered normal, 42 to 47 is in the pre diabetic range and above 47 is Type 2
The Hba1c measures how much glucose has stuck to your blood cells over their lifetime.
The cells live for around 12 weeks so it's seen as a sort of 12 week average. The higher your blood sugar has been in that 12 weeks, the higher your Hba1c will be.
Although you have been on a low carb diet for a couple of weeks, that is unlikely to have had much influence on the results.
I think you should see your GP about your symptoms though, self diagnosis is never a good idea. Much better to get a professional diagnosis and receive the correct treatment for your symptoms.
