puffed up fingers and feet

I am newly diagnosed (type 2) and still trying to make sense of it all. For a while now, my fingers and top pad of my feet/ankles have been puffed up. Is this a symptom of Diabetes?

Ive been drinking lots of water as I'm always thirsty - could it be because I'm drinking so much water? If the puffyness is connected, does the swelling go down when my blood sugar levels are controlled.

thank you

Hi dmc :) - The best idea would be to see your GP - it could be any number of things - I doubt you are drinking too much water- . The thirst could be a symptom of high BS - do you self test? - like I say see your doc - not everything is diabetes related

Ironically dehydration can cause ankles to swell up as the body conserves fluids. Since you are thirsty this is more likely. Do you know what you levels are when the swelling occurs?
