Morning fellow pumpers,

i'm sure this topic has been covered before, but I am interested in conducting a small survery about where people wear their pump!

For the last 3 years I have worn mine tucked into my bra. I have tried some little pouches which I bought online from a US company but I find them too bulky, like wearing a pager or a mobile phone clipped to your belt. Plus, when I wear a dress, where do I clip it?! Tucking it into my bra also means that I can wear more 'fitted' clothing and I don't get the square, odd shaped hip as well  and yes, you can get a square boob too but I find as long as you use a good, well made underwired bra with a smidge of padding then you avoid that too! Tried and tested methods, believe me. Sorry if that is too much info :p

Anyway, recently I have taken to tucking the pump into my trouser pockets (when I wear them rather than a dress). This only works if I am wearing a tighter fitting trouser with snug pockets, otherwise I find it just falls out? But then I get the obvious square hip issue. Now, I don't particularly mind that but does anyone use any shop/internet bought socks or pockets which are more discrete? I'm not ashamed of my pump but I do like fashion and nice clothes and it annoys me when the pump ruins the fit of my clothing!

So, suggestions please! What works for you? 8)

I have 2 "thigh things" from Animas - though I'm sure if you're handy you can make it yourself for a fraction of the price! It's like tubigrip, Lycra band that you slide up your leg & it has a pocket in for the pump. One stays up brilliantly on it's own, the other tends to slide down, which is a pain. It comes with a bit of elastic with a clip on both ends & that sorts out the slippage however. I use this for all apart from really short dresses - then I clip it to the middle bit of my bra in between my boobs.
Trying to give a bolus when it's clipped to my bra is a nightmare though - fishing in my chest draws some odd looks

Hi,
I mostly wear mine in my jeans pocket on a normal work day if i wear dresses it's usually on the front of my pants I had quite a tight fitting wedding dress and all my family kept asking where it was. Whenever I had my old d tron it was quite big and bulky in comparison to my animas, my old dsn gave me some stickers that fitted over the front making it a bit prettier to look at as even though it would be in a pocket or in my bra it would always poke out. If Im Kayaking or out on the boats or doing anything sporty it usually stays in my bra right in the center bit as I alaways get worried about bashing legs and things off rocks. The unfortunate bit about the animas is, that it doesn't have a remote which means you have to fish it out of wherever you have it if you need it. This was very embarrassing the other day when i was smartly dressed at work and my pump started alarming infront of some clients I had to rummage around in my crotch area trying to get it to shush, then the guy thinking it was a phone said you can step out and take that call if you want.. Most of the time if it's just a bolus I can just press the little button on the top that vibrates for boluses so I don't need to look. I've been provided with lots of different cases etc but they always seem too big and bulky and very easily spotted I have managed to make a few sock thingys and sew these into my clothes which are quite good in certain outfits.

thanks ladies, glad to hear I'm not the only one who has issues with where to wear! Have either of you tried the bra clip which hangs at the side, so under your arm? I think Roche do that one (I have a Roche pump) but I've always thought it looks a bit uncomfortable? I'm grateful for the remote control aspect of the Accu Chek combo as I don't have to fish my pump out from my pants or bra to bolus! I have been accused of using my mobile phone in a meeting at work before, I just tend to roll my eyes at comments like that, all the important people who need to know at work, know so everyone else can think what they like 8)

today, my pump is mostly in my pocket of my jeggings :D I just have to remember it's there when I go to the loo

I used to wear clipped to bra until a student quietly and respectfully told me that you could see it. I then started tucking it inside my brea and still do sometimes. But most of the time I now tuck into my pants where it is secure. I use remote control with Medtronic.

On my arm.. Notice that Roche now do an arm band.. But mine always faces downward..theirs faces horizontally.... By the looks of the photo.
Only good for accuchek combo users die to the brilliant remote... Mine goes on and never worry anout taking off clothes or anything..
Quite bionic really.. Pump on one arm and cgm on the other..never interfere with any of my hard physical work either .. Never have to worry about either of them getting banged, or dropped etc.

do you wear your CGM every day? is that because it 'talks' to you pump?

No, my cgm is totally separate to my pump, and dont talk to each other.
The sensor is'stapled' into the back of one arm, as that is the recommended place by the manufacturer.
So I will wear the sensor for 5 days, move it on same arm for probably about 5 weeks in total.
The other arm then has my pump at the top of it.
After about 5 weeks, that will also be time to change my sets from the left side of my body to the right and vice versa, so then the pump and cgm change arm.
The receiver for my cgm is in a case attached to s spie belt that I wear. At night I just take off clothes and go directly to sleep without having to worry about cgm or pump at all. The receiver (because we have a 6' bed) with humungous space .. It lies flat on the bed next to my pillow.. Directly next to my head so that I can hear it.
Due to wearing the receiver in a fully usable place on front of my waist, it enables me to always see it at a touch of a button.. The case is good as Like today, i had so much mud on my gloves, but it allows me on the spie belt to wear it over a thin tshirt.. Or as today... 1tshirt, 3 jumpers and a bodywarmer.. As I strip off my layers whilst working, due to getting so hot whilst gardening the spie belt is so easy to unclip and put on the next layer etc.
I really never know that I am wearing the oump on my arm, or the cgm-unless its hit a muscle...
And it frees up my waist to wear the receiver.
If I had sets in ny stomach, cgm sensor in stomach, plus the receiver and the pump on my waist or trousers.. I would never cope!!!

Hi,

I am pretty new to the pump so at the moment I have been usually putting it in my pockets, not so easy if you are wearing trousers with no pockets as it keeps falling off! My mum made me a pouch for my thigh out of a pair of lycra knickers! ;) I must say it is a great job if you are wearing a dress and far cheaper than the ones online. She has also made me one that clips on to the side of my bra, lycra knickers to the rescue again ;) and it is also great if you want to wear something tight fitting.

I am hoping to get a pump soon and have already considered clothing. I'm quite petite, and whilst I can enjoy wearing smaller clothing I'm hot weather. I have thought of creating a bra, a push up/ padded one, whee you incorporate space I'm one side for the pump?

Do you have the option of the new omnipod? I am considering getting one of those when I upgrade this year. Quite like the thought of no tubing. But yes, stitching a pocket into your bra is a great idea!

I'm lucky as an Omnipod user as the flexibility of putting the pod all around the body according to what I'm wearing or what sport I'm doing is very attractive. Currently it's on my calf. There are technical issues from time to time but body placement and no tubing is good for me so I do highly recommend it.

Thx for that JaneC, I am keen to give the omnipod a go. My dn said that a lot of her omnipodders wear it on the back of their arms. How does it work In your calf? What about calf muscles?!
