Hi folks, I haven't posted for a while but are any of you out there on Saxagliptin?
3 years ago I started on insulin and then came off that and went into Glicazide. I eventually came of that and was diet/exercise only. I managed to get my hba1c down from 94 to 51 but then after Christmas it crept up to 61 so the Dr put me on Metformin SR. I have very bad IBS and even the slow release gave me lots of pain so I'm now trying Saxagliptin.

I'm a worrier anyway and today as been my first day of taking it and I've been so stressed! I'm wondering if anyone out there has had any side effects from taking Saxagliptin? I've read all the contra-indications in the package, which doesn't help an anxious person like me! Lol

My Dr is hopeful that the stomach upsets will settle down, if they ever will with my IBS, but being a worrier I'm looking for any other 'symptoms' that I might get.

Anyone out there there the same when taking new medication?

Thank you for you time :)

You need to make yourself aware of the following advisory:
https://www.fda.gov/Safety/MedWatch...tyAlertsforHumanMedicalProducts/ucm494252.htm

It applies to US users but NICE has decided not to include it in their advice.

Also be aware of this:
https://www.fda.gov/Drugs/DrugSafety/ucm459579.htm

Finally, the one that made me come off Sitagliptin:
https://www.fda.gov/Safety/MedWatch/SafetyInformation/ucm283036.htm

Here is a general info site:
