Most consultants and diabetes specialist nurses (DSN) recommend not getting toe nails cut or cuticles cut because people with diabeges are more at risk of infections. And also because some beauticians cut too short.
Theres also the chance of bleeding.

In manor of beauty products
Some lip balms and flavoured lip gloss can contain sugar. ESPECIALLY LUSH lip balms.

Thats about it really.

Ive never let my diabetes stop be having bwauty treatments

You just have to be extra careful they dont cut too short.
And ask them not to remove the cuticles as you have diabetes.

DSN also recommend not getting tattoos due to risk factors.
Ive got 6 tattoos.
Ive had acrylics done.

Im not saying im rebellious. I just dont let me diabetes affect me. .you just have to be extra careful is all woth beauty treatments etc...

Most places understand diabetes and adapt their treatments - so not removing the cuticles etc... x

The other thing to consider is packaging of innocent foods like tinned tomatoes/tomato puree tubes - can cause cancer apparently.

Make sure the tin is coated inside.

Using nice beauty products can make us feel so good and we need that when we have diabetes we want to look and feel the best we can

@Pinkorchid
You are so right. We need to feel good, and our lovely hand creams certainly have a fonder scent than insulin

Bath bombs made my blood sugar go up.

Grandson used to sell them on E bay some he manufactured some sourced from wholesale then he lost interest and there's a stack of several hundred in the corner of my dining room every time I look at them I get mad and blood sugar goes up.

Similarly I can't stand the smell of the shop, Lush. I have to cross the road to avoid it!

Also the smell of stale perfume on women.

@JohnEGreen that sounds like a woman's dream, hundreds of bath bombs
Not sure i would like them stacked up in the dining room though, my little schnauzer would probably be frothing at the mouth!!

I don't see why they would, but J tend not to apply hand cream until I've tested my blood glucose. I worry - maybe unnecessarily - that hand cream might affect the reading.

Hand cream definitely is likely to affect the reading. I use hand cream as my skin is thin and damaged by meds but make sure I do not have any on when testing.

An interesting aside on this is that as the reading I've done since my cat became hyperthyroid is that before the 1970s hyperthyroidism virtually didn't exist in cats, and they aren't sure why. The finger is, however, being pointed at the lining in tin cans which contains hormone disrupters.

There seems to be no escape from chemicals! Even our home grown veg suffers from the drift from the adjacent field :(

All you can do is eliminate what you can and reduce your exposure to these chemicals as much as possible.

It can also make it nigh on impossible to get the blood drop to stick to the testing strip! It can make it somehow watery and it won't work with one of my meters. It was very frustrating until I worked out what was causing it!
