Diagnosed 8 months ago at 114 down to 47, then 43 then 41 just two weeks ago and now 38 (average sugar level of 5.6) a few days ago. As I'm taking part in a study drug for diabetes I get my HBA1C tested more regularly.
The last two weeks I have made some changes to my diet swapping my high carbohydrate breakfast porridge that makes me spike to 11 to a low carb porridge alternative that doesn't make me spike atall and swapping my normal pasta dishes in the evening to a low carb pasta at times. So that's why I think there's a difference from 41 to 38 just 10 days.
Around 10 days ago I also started reading DR Burnsteins Diabetes solution (both the documentary and book) after someone shared a link on here. I also discovered type1keto.com after somebody shared a link on here and have been watching the podcasts. Thank you to those people who shared I can't remember who.
Have been finding the debate interesting between high carb and low carb diets especially for type 1s which alot of people don't consider safe as it hasn't been researched enough.
At the moment I wouldn't say I'm low carb less than 30g a day but definitely would not advocate a high carb lifestyle for myself due to the high sugar levels and how they make me feel personally.
I think there needs to be a midpoint when you can still eat the food you enjoy, but for me not having all the pizza, all the chips and all the garlic bread at once on a Saturday night. Maybe pick one for example a few slices of pizza on a Saturday and reluctantly cut the chips and garlic bread out (as I have done this last two weeks).
I've also been surprised about how I've cut down on carbs alot I haven't really been craving them for once and have actually lost weight unintentionally despite having a healthy BMI. I think this is due to high fat content I have been consuming especially in my morning"porridge" which consists on chia seeds, flakseeds and coconut extract (and of course dark chocolate melted ) I also have a cheese omelette everyday for lunch and a Milky coffee which I haven't been able to swap to almond milk yet as it tastes disgusting.
Anyway I'm interested in everybody's diets, high carb, low carb, low fat, high fat and why
