I was told mine was to low
Im a type 1 have been for the past 17 years after having high suger levels for years i ended up having a stroke i am 47 and have also lost most of my eye sight (my partner is typing and reading this app for me ) i was stuck in the circle of insulin food more insulin weight gain etc
I was determined to lose the weight and get fitter
I put my self on a strict diet bought a hula hoop and a exercise bike now 3 months down the line
Im at my ideal weight I've lost 4 and a half stone and my HSBC is 6.5 and my diabetic specialist has told me that it is to low
First thoughts: who is this idiot and where do they practice - just so the rest of us can steer clear!
On the other hand...
What was your HbA1c running at for the past two years?
Have you dropped it very quickly - and possibly too quickly? (This can accelerate the worsening of complications for some time and until your body cleanses and re adjusts to the new you.)
Other considerations: longevity... do you and your partner have a plan for the year (and a concept for the following few years) with some 'mileposts' and (flexible) targets?
It's easy for us T1's to get lost in the frenzied panic to 'take control', only for it all to fall apart almost as fast when life / complications / etc get in the way.
Otherwise
@kocall I extend my wholehearted empathy with your situation and my admiration and camaraderie for standing up this blasted condition.
Well done you AND your partner (for standing with and supporting you through what must be an incredibly difficult and exhausting time - such support is incalculable).
Very best wishes and good luck to you both with the journey.
Conrad.
