Oh Sorry to hear that you have been poorly @debrasue - But you are feeling much better now? Hope your Hubby took good care of you? Thanks for the information on the Steroid Injections, have you had them yourself? Sending you HUGS :) William x

No, I've not had the pleasure, but my mum has had heaps of them, with varying degrees of success. It seems that the more you have, the less efficiently they work (maybe you get immune to them). That's certainly been the case for my mum.

Thanks for your kind words - it was a very fast-acting virus which gave me a temperature of 104 within a couple of hours and awful pain over my entire body, from the top of my head to my toes. I was seriously worried about meningitis at one point and actually called 111 for some advice, but they explained that it's a virus which is currently doing the rounds. My poor husband did his best to look after me, but i couldn't eat anything, couldn't bear to be touched, and could only lie in bed and cry! (Yep, I know - I'm a wuss.)

I do feel better today and got up for a few hours this afternoon. Managed to have a shower and wash my hair, strip my bed (I always have to have a clean, fresh bed after I've been ill), and get the dinner, but I'm hot and hurty again now. Ah well, bound to be better tomorrow, eh?

(Still chuckling over your cheeky bum!)

Hugs xx

@debrasue - I saw/read on Facebook that there's a few cases of Meningitis about in Adults, which is scary. Thanks for that about the Steroids. I don't know how much I will get away with on here as regards naughty Avatars? :D

Yes, people often think that only children get it, but I know a lady in her 60s who had it a few years ago and she was very poorly indeed for a couple of months.
I hope your steroids kick in soon. (If you develop a six-pack, feel free to share the photos!)
As regards the avatars, 'push the envelope' is a philosophy I have always lived by. How are you supposed to know where the boundaries lie if you don't? LOL
(Sorry, Moderators!)

Not riding my bike
Feeling a bit chirpy. Had my HB1ac back, down to 53 despite metformin nightmares. The new medication seems to be working.

Depends on your length of step. Mine's from DCUK shop and you take 10 steps, measure it, divide by 10 and that's what you set it to for accurate, at least more accurate, mileage. It's set at 30" and my step is only 22".... You also set your weight for it to work out calories used.
Mine is just a basic one, it counts steps only. I have a longer stride than you, I'm 5 ft 8 and I inherited my dad's lanky legs! I have a formula for working out distance, I walk at 3 miles an hour which means a mile every 20 minutes. I take about 10 minutes to walk 1000 steps so I can then work it out from there.

Hi Tina! Thanks for thinking of me. Yes, I do feel better so far, thanks, although I seem to have developed cellulitis in my right leg, probably due to the virus, which is pretty uncomfortable and a bit worrying this morning. Might call the surgery if it gets any worse...

Wouldn't wait for it to get worse. @Cumberland had it a few moths ago and it spread painfully and quickly.

I feel so happy that I can try metformin again..... just have to wait for the tablets now. I'm praying I don't get upset tum again now I haven't got the fatty liver.
So much is riding on them for me.
Specialist cannot tell by my bloods if pcos is back but he's convinced metformin will help.
Me too.
Metformin helps with much other ailments. Apparently alzheimers too.
I forgot the time for my specialist appointment yesterday. Ooops. It was 9am appointment not 11.30. Durr!

Vicky, you do make me smile... "Let us know what date has been booked" = "No ifs and buts, get off your **** and do it!"
Seriously, though, my thanks to you and @Sable_Jan for your concern and good advice. In fact, I phoned my GP at 9.30 this morning and he confirmed that it was pretty classic symptoms for cellulitis, as I suspected, and has sent a prescription for antibiotics to my local pharmacist which my husband's picking up this afternoon.
He also told me that, what I thought was a separate virus on Sunday and Monday due to the pains and high temperature, was in fact almost certainly the start of the cellulitis. Although I've had cellulitis before, following surgery, I've never had it like that, so that's a new one on me and one I'll be aware of in the future.
You're right, though, it can get serious pretty quickly, which is why I had a change of heart and called the surgery earlier. It's silly to take chances...
