G'Day from Montreal. I woke to a BG of 5.3 mmol/L this a.m. (06:30) after a pre breakfast 3km run. Pleased, because it was probably in the upper 4's before my run.

Yes, that's more than likely so, but it would be nice to know.
Most of us on this FBG thread for type 2s test as soon as we're awake. Given that you don't run 3km every morning before breakfast, testing as soon as you wake would be the easiest way to ensure your FBG tests were all performed under the same conditions. As
@hankjam says above, best to be consistent, Your results would then give you a bench mark for day to day comparison.
