Sorry you are having problems. Are you getting medical support? Or even social, practical or emotional support?

to be depressed about diabetes now and then is normal, if you had depression before it's aggravating it, are you on meds or see Dr for referral to counselling

I agree, jack412, I feel depressed about diabetes at times. Clinical depression is different, and if ally1 has clinical depression which is causing problems, I hope she will get the support she needs.

Depression is a common symptom of hypothyroidism.

Alli,

I would go back to your G.P. if depression you are suffering is associated with the PTSD.

You really need someone who specialises in PTSD to help you overcome this if it still affecting you. You may even be offered a programme at a residential centre for intense group therapy, depending on the severity of your symptoms.

Whilst the diabetes is something else to add to your depression, you will feel much better if the PTSD is addressed

I know first hand how debilitating this can be and hope you can soon get through this.

Take care,

CC.

Yes, depression can be a result of the body trying to conserve it's energy supplies when it feels the body is under threat. The body systems close down. Also the dopamine system can be involved - reducing the reward feeling. (and the serotonin system)

I tell you this body is a very complex thing.

However, remember it will pass (at some stage) and then may come again and pass again, You do go up and down.

How's your diet going, have you managed to get your heart rate up with some low impact exercise etc. Even walking up and down the stairs a couple of times may help get the heart beating a little faster.
