vomiting with diabetes

Hi all my name is Tanya i am the mother of a child with type 1 diabetes ,i was wondering if any1 here has suffered with the vomiting bug. my son who is 3 in march get a vomiting bug every month which are large vomits. now he has been getting reflux i think every day were he would vomit up to 15 - 20 times a day. does any1 have this problem :?:

Have you checked his ketones?? last time i vomited that much i ended up with DKA keep him hydrated and check bloods regularly if in doubt of anything phone your care team or on call diabetic nurse i have mine on speed dial

i have checked his keytones he gets this way all the time he has been admitted to hospital 7 times since feb 12 is really bugging me now.his kt are always 0.1 a few days ago they were up to 1.9 which i kept him hydrated matthew also has dyskenetic cebral palsy he has no speech so its hard to know whats going on with him if hes in pain or why he is sick every day . if i ring the hospital they just tell me to bring him in and they do what i can do at home with him. i will be in touch with the diabetes team in the morning his bs is 8.7 kt 0.1 now so we should get through the night. thanks for the reply

your very welcome have a good night let me know how he is I was diagnosed with ibs early last year some foods made me sick and vomit has he been to a gastro specialist

no he is going to a feeding clinic im going to get him referred thanks

Im afraid I don't have any info or advice but I just wanted to say Im sorry to hear your son has been so poorly. It must be very tough on him and on you, especially at such a young age. I hope you get some help/answers from your care team and that he starts to improve soon! Thinking of you both!

thanks for ur concern we were told yesterday he has a mitro condrial disorder not sure how it will affect him doing more test but the vomiting diabetes dev delay is all part of it ...its explains something i suppose doing more tests to see how it will effect his future

I'm so sorry to hear that! It must be a very worrying time for you. I hope the news is not too bad and at least now you know about it you can start to deal with it and get him the best and most appropriate treatment.
