Why does cod liver oil raise my blood sugar?

Hi all, About 4 years ago I started taking omega 3 capsules/oil but I found that my need for insulin increased and made blood sugar control really hard so I experimented with different brands etc. but with no luck so I just stayed off it. Lately I've been trying to increase my vitamin D levels and so decided to give cod liver oil a go but unfortunately the same thing has happened. The day after starting on it, my blood sugar shot up and I'm now injecting a lot more than usual. It's like having insulin resistance. I've searched on google but not really found anything. I do remember reading on this forum of someone else who cannot tolerate fish oils but have had no luck in my search. I think I'll just have to accept I cannot take fish oils but I would love to know the science behind why it affects some diabetics in this way.

Hi, if it's any help, all oils raise my BG. If I eat fish an chips for instance, my BG will go from around 6 up to around 19-20. Just don't eat it anymore.

You can get your omega, zinc iron and free radical fighters without the fish.
Take flaxseed! Milled or oil.

Diet drinks - the artificial sweeteners taste vile.
Having to forswear foods I have loved all my life.
Trying to find low carb meals when eating out.
Just found this when looking for anything on cod liver oil.

I had to smile when Peter blamed the oil on his spike after fish and chips.

Anyway, looking for information on impact of taking Cod Liver Oil capsules when T2 on LCHF.

Fatty fish can raise my bs. Like salmon and to a lesser extent tuna more than poultry, egg or lamb/beef. Vitamin c rockets me. Biotin raises me.

I take source naturals vitamin d drops. I haven't had an issue.

Obviously I'm not a type 2 and don't follow a LCHF diet, but I've taken a CLO supplement for the last 25 years, initially in a capsule form and for the past 8 years as a liquid (Seven Seas High-Strength) and I've not noticed any effect on bg levels at all, always take the supplement just before my evening meal which helps mask any taste/aftertaste.
