Hi, I’ve been on it since late December likewise on Victoza till it wasn’t available.
I started on 16 units and titrated up every three days to 22 before my glucose levels came within ‘normal’ range. However I also started to cut down on carbs and found myself needing to titrate back down to the original 16 units to avoid hypos.
I got a free sample of Libre 2 and found that invaluable in helping me manage my carb intake/ identifying which foods caused high glucose rises. Lentils was a surprise!
I’ve honestly felt ok on it. A bit of a bother to register with DVLA and commit to two finger pricks per day
I’ve now started self funding Libre2 for a couple more months until I’m feeling well established in reducing my carb intake.
My time in range is now 95% whereas prior to using Xultophy it was around 50%.

Thanks, good to hear your managing on it.
I've started on 10 & nurse said if numbers not low enough go up by 1 click until I get it right but to stick on 10 the first couple of weeks.
Was so worried about starting something new

Interesting the different advice from the specialists. Of course follow your own nurse’s instructions.
I was advised to look at my glucose numbers and go up by two clicks after three days till I got them right. But maybe my numbers were higher than yours to start with. On it now for 6 weeks and tolerating it well. I had a mild headache for a couple of days at the beginning but that disappeared quickly. Let me know how you’re doing on it as there don’t seem to be many people on this particular drug. Good luck.

Glad to hear how well you’re doing on it. I can report similar success with my levels.
My dosage is still fluctuating between 16 and 22, possibly down to my insulin resistance/sensitivity. Also low carbing and going for an A1c next week. Hoping for a good result from that and will post again when I have it.

Xultophy update: A1c is now 41 which is down from 67 in September. Started the insulin in late December after my glucose had shot up because I wasn’t on any medication… lack of availability of Victoza.
Not sure how much is due to the low dose of basal insulin (18units) and how much is due to low carbing. Think on balance it’s down to the lower carbs. My plan is to continue on the insulin for another three months and hopefully get another A1c and if it remains low then I will discuss with the nurse about coming off insulin and staying with lower carbs for control.
Also a plus is my cholesterol is down from 4.2 to 3.6. That’s in spite of the loads extra cheeses and butter I’ve been consuming on my lower carb life style. (I do take 10mg of Atorvastatin)
Plus I’ve lost a few kilos.
