Study of Proinsulin (PI) Peptide Immunotherapy in New-Onset Type 1 Diabetes

Cardiff University and King’s College London are currently recruiting patients for a multi-centre research study in patients with newly diagnosed Type 1 diabetes.

The main inclusion criteria are:

  • Aged between 18-45 years old
  • Diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes in the last 70 days
  • On insulin treatment ONLY and not taken any tablets for your diabetes (for example: Metformin, Gliclazide)

The study is running now and looking for people to take part.

If you would be interested in receiving more information and would like to register your interest, please complete the application questions as honestly and accurately as possible. 

You will then receive a telephone call from a member of the multi-centre research study team within a few days and they will arrange for you to visit one of their research centres in Cardiff, London, Bristol, Chester or Newcastle to speak with one of their doctors about the study. 

Who is funding and organising this study? This study is being funded by the Diabetes Vaccine Development Centre (DVDC) in collaboration with the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation International (JDRFI). It is being organised by Cardiff University and King’s College London. Who has reviewed this study? The study has been reviewed by the Research Committees of the JDRF and DVDC, and approved by an NHS research ethics committee and the government’s Medicine and Healthcare Products Regulatory Authority (MHRA).
