Good evening I'm not sure if this is the right forum to ask this question but is it alright to eat peanut butter ,their is so much conflicting views everywhere, that I thought I would ask here, yes I could eat some and use my meter but I would rather get the inforemation from here.Thank you:)

peanutbutter well like all the other kinds of foods I think it can be boiled down to how much carb is in peanutbutter and how much carb a day can you take before your blood glucose gets too high..

It is really a question of amount and well and your own choice I think... I eat peanuts in smaller amounts , and I could certainly also get the idea of eating a chruncy peanutbutter meal on a Lidl protein roll ... it all depends..

for some diseases the amount of salt in peanut butter can be too high, but do you actually eat too much salt or do you have kidney problems at all...

when being diabetic and continuingly meeting all the other people understanding close to nothing of ones disease, then one has to be able to take ones own choices and by one self learn all one need to control the condition and be strong in ones strategy ... STAND STRONG AND TAKE YOUR CHOICES no matter what all the others tell you of incompetent opinions

It's a yes from me ..
I have been eating the no added sugar smooth peanut butter for years now :)

:)@Juicetin thank you. I haven't noticed that before but I will look for it now to try.

No problems with peanut butter for me. The Whole Earth ones have no added sugar are lovely.
Check the labels on any others, some of them do have added sugar.

Good morning all my friends and many thanks for all your reply's very much appreciated,I shall give it a go then ,it will go nicely on one slice (toasted)of my new found bread:)

I eat it, not a lot, but as always.... read the label and not just for carb content, but also ingredients... some are full of ****.

I add a Tablespoon full of chunky peanut butter to Lean Cuisine oriental dishes to add fat and protein if I am low that day. I also just like the taste. I still have peanut butter on my Healthnut bread once in a while too, but these days I am having a dental issue so I make toast with peanut butter for mom more often than for me. I think it's a good food when used in moderation as mentioned above and also read the label-some peanut butters have added sugar, corn syrup or other things you do not need-most don't.

Peanut butter is fine (in moderation but only as long as you buy the brands with no added sugar!) as it's high in fats/oils. Definitely check both ingredients and nutritional values. Like some of the previous posters I'd recommend the Whole Earth brand, which I've actually eaten since my non-diabetic days.

It will depend on how you eat it... smeared on bread it is not a great idea.. from a teaspoon much better..

I have been known to wander around my kitchen with a spoonful of peanut butter stuck in my mouth :wideyed::p
