Hi Motherhan - You might find reading this page worthwhile: https://nutritionalketosisforhealth.com/what-is-nutritional-ketosis/

Optimal levels are suggested here:

Some folks are very concerned to be in the optimal range, but my personal view is if you are keen to be efficiently burning burning fat, then being in nutritional ketosis would be enough.

Personally, I have never striven for ketosis. I just eat to my meter, but we're all different in how we choose to handle things..

But I am only 02 that doesn't seem to mean anything not even am I in nutritional Keyboard that starts at ,0.5. and yet I have sometimes less that 12 carbs a day and never more than 40.

I'm going to tag @bulkbiker for you as he has experimented much more with nutritional ketosis than I have.

0.2 is a bit low so I'd have another look at your carb intake. One almost guaranteed way to get into ketosis is to fast of course..
Are you testing blood or using the pee sticks? The pee sticks are notoriously inaccurate.

Just to add that any ketones in your pee are ones that your body doesn't need, so a low reading doesn't mean that you aren't burning fat.
Even blood ketone readings from finger pricks are just an indication that you may be in the zone; the only really important ones are those above 5 when you are drifting towards the top end. Towards 15 is the worry area.
People are different and if your body is producing and using ketones very efficiently once you have adapted then you may see very low ketone readings.

Edit: my bedtime reading of Volek & Phinney suggests that there are a couple of stages on the fat burning road. First stage is adaption where your body is adjusting and you start producing extra ketones as an alternative fuel to glucose. The second stage is full adaptation where fat is burned directly in your organs and muscles so the need for ketones drops right down and you may be fully fat burning with minimal ketones.

MY only question would be how many tomatoes and how much milk?

Either three small cherry tomatoes and two large if I fry them. I don't measure milk as some times I have it in tea or coffee or I have the sachet of capaccinno once or twice day. I don't have two tomatoes fried every morning with breakfast.I usecsemi skimmed milk.

Are you keeping a detailed food diary then? If you aren’t measuring then you won’t really know what carbs you are having.

Sachets of cappucino/latte/cup a soup are high in carbs.

I would ask why you are striving to be in ketosis? If you are very insulin resistant and therefore very carb intolerant perhaps it will be harder to get to the magic 0.5 especially if you are eating enough non starchy veg to make; you feel great and keep your glucose down. If that was the case you are surely doing very well and have a healthy and sustainable way of eating that is right for you. I too want to maximise my fat burn but am determined not to get obsessed remembering that more ketones does not mean better and that we arre all metabolically different. A good book to check out if you did want to know more is Jimmy Moore's Keto Clarity or Dr Joe Mercola's Fat for Fuel (both on Amazon and Audible). Fasting is a great quick route in but may not be necessary if you can choose a gentler 'on ramp'!

VirtaHealth has got great results by tracking keytone levels to check people are keeping to very low carb, see the research paper they published this year.

Just received my ketones meter. It has come with 2 free test strips so once I've bought a pack I will start using it.
One of the posters advised me of the company who has since had a huge demand.... maybe from us diabetes.co.uk lot?
Meter result is more accurate than dipsticks. Now I have both. :)

I want ketosis as I am 16.11 in weight have heavy stomachs and legs and underarm and back fat want to get rid of it nice and for all, although my readings of BT were 9.2 this morning I was hungry andcat my lunch time and my keytones were 0.6 first time ever my weight when I started doing this low carb seriously as 17.4 I really want to master this if I can. I do have cream in instant coffee but only allow myself two cups a day. I will have to look into milk as I don't measure at the moment. But thank you for getting back to me.xx
