Diabetics R Us

Good morning Karen, back at work on Monday?

G'morning all. My youngest is safely back in the nest after his (drunken) holiday in Greece. He arrived back sunburned and bitten to shreds, knackered and skint and is now snoring under his hamburger duvet. All is well.

Afternoon all

I will be heading into Canterbury later to my friend's hen do. We are starting at 4pm with a cocktail masterclass, followed by a 3 course meal, then back to my friend's for drinkie-poos - lots of them no doubt :D. I may or may not be in the land of the living tomorrow :hungover:;)

We have another Winner! Is there trend building?

I'm not a winner. Since having the garden cleared of weeds and all the overgrowth, plus lots else, we seem to have an infestation of fleas in the garden. They must have been disturbed during the clearance, and with all this hot and humid weather have come out ready to suck blood and breed. We have both been bitten, hubby has 15 bites, I have 2 or 3 times that many but I am very susceptible to insect bites. They seem to love me no matter what I do. I am controlling the itching and doing all I can to avoid more bites. For some reason Ness the dog is completely clear of fleas. She has been Front-lined twice since we moved here, and has nothing in her coat at all and no signs of scratching. Apparently the country has had an invasion of the vampires with all this warm weather, and lots of people are reporting these infestations, including some of our neighbours.

Just hoping they haven't spread into the house. I've been walking round the rooms with white socks on to see if the carpets may be hiding some. So far so good. We bought some house spray for the carpets and soft furnishings but haven't used it yet.

Just a thought, but if you could attract the insect eating birds with something like meal worms they might take the fleas too? Hope we get rain again soon and that the beastie bites heal without bother, sometimes those bites can turn right nasty.

Plenty of mealworms out but few birds at the moment. It is molting time so they tend to hide away until they get their new plumage. Also, we haven't yet got our feeding areas sorted as there is still much work to be done in the back garden. The hedge hogs are enjoying the mealworms though. :)

I'm looking after my bites, keeping them clean and plenty of antiseptic. Thank goodness they are all under clothing and not on any bare bits or I might be taken away to isolation in case it is the pox. :bigtears:

Hi Everyone!!
I've been away for a week so just caught up on all the news. Sounds like you've all had fun. Happy belated birthday @Cumberland. I went to Devon and thankfully the weather was much cooler there. Now back home and the washing is drying nicely in the heat! Best of both worlds! I had a few naughty pub lunches but then skipped evening meals, so hopefully I haven't done too much damage. It was actually a lot easier than I thought it would be to refuse the cream teas! I had clotted cream on jelly instead ;). It's nice to be home again and back to routine, and my own bed tonight :singing:

Whereabouts in Devon did you stay?

Thanks for birthday wishes

Good morning Duckies. It is a beautiful Sunday morning here in Yorkshire, hope you have a grand day.

Morning all

I am alive and well and have survived the hen do. A shot of tequila rose, 4 cocktails, a couple of G&Ts, lots of prosecco, a glass of red wine, a couple of guzzled drinks playing alcohol pong. Chorizo in red wine, Latin chicken & churros at the restaurant, then cheese and a couple of slices of pizza at the hen's. I shouldn't have ate the pizza as after not getting home until 1.30am I was awake at 4.30am with terrible indigestion. No hangover though :D

Have been for a walk to help get rid of the indigestion which worked.

Have a good day.

H :)
