My new challenge ,

Well I took my first steps today , they put an inflatable cover over your stump and connect it to a cage which has a foot arrangement on in then the put you between parallel bars , it’s just to get you use to standing and moving . Was first time in gym and they’ve already passed me to get a prosthetic , it’s not a given due to strength health etc.
I’m at gym tomorrow will get lassie in charge to take video

Does it hurt? Did the wound heal so quickly?

It’s a bit sore afterwards but the wound is still healing as it’s only been a week , there are internal dissolvable sutchers plus the wound was glued externally ,I think it’s sore at the moment because I put pressure on it walking today it’s still bruised from the trauma of lopping off my leg . I’ve definitely had worse pain .

I'm sorry to hear your exercises increased the soreness, even though it makes sense for such a fresh wound to be painful.
Take care and try to find the right balance between getting back of your feet, taking care of your healing wounds, and of course your stubbornness!

As I’ve got older definitely not wiser I think I have more patience I’ve attached a pic which shows what I walked with today

I basically go to the gym in the morning, then on a Monday, Wednesday and Friday I go to dialysis in the afternoon, at the moment I’m in Glasgow but have been cleared to go back to Larbert hospital which is neared to where I live in Stirling . Just waiting for a bed

What does "going to dialysis" look like now? You can't miss a day, can you?
Is it OK that I'm asking this kind of thing? We all have a higher chance of experiencing dialysis and amputation than healthy people.

As I’m an ‘in patient’ I basically get taken to the dialysis unit by a porter. I still go three days a week Monday Wednesday Friday while I’m in the house I basically travel to the dialysis unit. My time on the machine is 4 1/2 hours three times a week that doesn’t change when I’m in hospital I just dont have to travel . Once your dialysis starts it is the same every week til you get a transplant . It’s worth noting that dialysis only does 5 % of what you kidneys do , and dialysis doesn’t start until your kidney function is below 10 %.

Wow, I didn't know that 5% of the kidney's work is enough for life!

Don't you want to have a kidney and pancreas transplant, or is it contraindicated for you? Immunosuppression sounds nicer than insulin therapy and dialysis.

I was offered to go on the pancreas and kidney transplant list ,but I’ve had diabetes 44 years, so it’s now normal for me . I don’t find it a problem my blood sugar control has never been better .so having diabetes fr the rest of my life doesn’t bother me in fact I embrace it and that makes me stronger .i know
It’s sounds like 5 % is enough for life but it has to happen 3 times a week for me with no exceptions maybe more or else life doesn’t happen .i dont find dialysis an unpleasant experience mind you I just accept things and move on , once they’ve happened no point in worrying about things

Is it pleasant experience? I mean, maybe it's not a bed where you lie motionless for 4 hours while all your blood is distilled through the machine, but a place where there's a TV with a good series or a good company?

can gangrene start even with good control :bag:?

Injections for the rest of my life don't bother me, unlike long-term complications.

If you have good control the risk of poor circulation/ infection is greatly reduced which in turn greatly reduces the risk of gangrene. The same is said of complications it’s all down to good blood sugar control

It sounds simpler than it actually is :hilarious:
My hba1 is normal, but Antje's charts are still the limit of my dreams.

But the fact that you have gangrene with good control makes you think that good control is not enough.
