I've been very nerdy about it too. Unfortunately I think my obsession (natural I think) with it contributed to my anxiety and panic attacks. Something had to give so I'm giving myself a month off. I've kept my food and exercise the same via myfitnesspal. Except I've missed one or two days excercise because I've had a cold and stubbed toe. First cold in three years and I get it in the middle of a heat wave!! One more week to go before I begin testing again.I'm still testing even though I agree it is demoralising, but I keep records of my averages each month, so if I don't test as normal my averages will be incorrect. I'm another nerd about it.
Good stuff ally13.6 before breakfast. 16.1 2 hours later
5.6. All my fasting results for the last week have been 5.5 or 5.6. Lowest all week was 4.6 highest 6.5. No metformin since 23rd

In my opinion, and plenty other valid ones exist; it's way, way too early to hit the carbs. Give your body some time to recover from the assault it has had from the high readings. Have you any poundage to drop?
To be fair sanguine; I have enjoyed being able to add a few additional carbs to my diet in more recent times. I don't eat "more" carbs every day, but it does help a bit when socialising and so on. For instance, the fact I can eat rice (and to be fair it has never been one of my disaster foods) meant a meal out this week, in a Greek restaurant opened up virtually the whole menu to me. It's good to have options.I agree, why do it at all? Spend longer weaning yourself off them and you probably won't feel the need to try it.
What the body likes least (kidneys especially) is wild fluctuations in blood sugar - try and smooth things out as much as possible.
