Welllll i was scrolling on facebook and came across a post "weird tattoos" and amongst them was a tattoo of the word "diabetic" on someone's wrist. Sorry but how is that weird...are they saying that if you are diabetic then you are weird?!?

I'd prefer a bracelet.
For a tattoo I'd prefer something more artistic than a medical condition. Each to his own though.

I have a girlfriend with a terrific sense of humour. For her 50th birthday she had her first tattoo. Its a very small laundry symbol under one arm which says "50 degrees. Wash With Care". She hopes it will be useful when she's in a nursing home!

You really can't read too much into tattoos. Or the word weird. Each person's definition will be different.

Chill! No diabetic is weird ;)

I get that I just thought it was a bit out of order that they put that in with a load of very weird tattoo's heyho! Getting my one soon lol! So I keep saying haha!

Weirdly enough me and my wife we're discussing me getting a tattoo on my wrist with type 1 diabetic jokingly as I bought a bracelet today haha

NicolaAnne......you don't half like to RANT....good stuff, keep it up as some of the threads are a bit BORING...oops lol:wacky:

As someone who finds wearing watches, bracelets or anything difficult I have never worn a medic alert bracelet and have sometimes thought about getting it tattooed on my wrist instead of wearing one.

I doubt they are calling diabetic weird but merely the notion of having your condition tattooed on your arm. (i wouldn't get eczema tattooed for instance)

I also doubt they might get the benefits of having your illness easily identifiable.

If the person wasn't however a diabetic and got it tatooed then yes I would prob find that a little weird :)

It's a bit too late for me to get anything tattooed on the wrists as both arms are already fully covered, in fact I am inked fully from the collar to the knees ATM And endure the tattooist chair every other weekend. Have done so for years now. It's a labour or love with the benefits of my artist teaching me the art form.

I would not have a tattoo with the word diabetic just in case a cure was found thus making it redundant...

I understand that but that wouldn't bother me....as it is a part of me and wouldn't be ashamed of it!

Assuming you got the word tattooed relatively small rather than ink your entire arm it would be relatively easy to remove.

It's quite possible the "diabetic tattoo" mentioned on the Facebook page was uploaded by mistake..??

I am not having one, full stop. I can easily write on my skin with permanent marker and renew when it has washed off!
