Type 2's: What was your fasting blood glucose in a morning?

Bedtime - 5.5
Fasting - 4.8 or 5.3 (left and right hand)

My lowest ever since I started testing 11 months ago.

Another early start for PT session. Unsure I have the energy...

Woke up around 6:00 am this morning at 133mg/dl or 7,4 mmol after going to bed at 7,0 mmol just past midnight.

I managed to walk (indoors as it has not stopped raining in the last 24 hours or so) for about 2,5 km and that brought down my levels down to an almost acceptable 6,1 mmol. As you can imagine waking endless laps of the 30 paces or so that separate our front door from the furthest point of the house directly opposite is not the most enjoyable walk I have ever taken but at least it proved effective.

These numbers are in characteristically high for me. Something in the low to mid 5s being a lot more typical.

So last night was a disaster from a diabetes point of view- I must have spent at least five hours above 7 mmol.

I can't really say that I regret it though as it really was an excellent night hosting a dinner party for friends.

Being a diabetic guest at a dinner party is easy, you can more or less just choose to ignore the worst offending food. If you are the host things are tougher as you are supposed to encourage your guests to enjoy the food and so more or less lead by example in sampling the various dishes.

Yesterday was also my turn to be Gordon Ramsey ( without the Hell's Kitchen temper tantrums) as I am always head chef in our kitchen when cooking for friends.

So I can not even blame someone else for the food selection.

I guess I will have to be extra careful for them rest of the week/month/year :-(

Enjoy the rest of the day everyone.

Just retested after completing an hour's worth of 6,6km fast walking. Glucose down from 6,1mmol to 5,2 mmol.

So back in line now.

4.6 having a little run in the 4's at the moment.

Time to put the tree up this morning , then off to the match this afternoon Utd vs Liverpool, come on United.

Have a great day everyone , back later.

8am is too early for me these days ;)
Now that's a difference we've not tried before: left versus right

Enjoy the game.

Hope it's a draw myself

A hefty 6.6 - I've been tinkering with my Metformin and it does seem to have notched my fasting up - that said I've also got a nasty cold and what I'm hoping isn't the reoccurrence of a chocolate cyst!! Who 'd be diabetic or a woman?
Grey , wet and windy out there so going to stay in and make a start on wrapping the Xmas presents -a task I loathe as I can make a square box look round.

Don't use meds but low dose must do SOMETHING or Doc wouldn't prescribe..... IS 500mgs a LOW dose?
Apparently. But to me it DEFINITELY does. My DN had said we will start you on one tablet and then increase if and as needed. I am probably ok with one 500mg

Looks great!

4.6 for me after being awake for an hour and just finished my slice of toast (butter everywhere but nice not to feel guilty :-D) was washing my hands and seeing bruises on fingers reminded me to test ;-)
