Well done Mike. We can all chip in with words of "wisdom", but with this thing, you and only you can walk the walk.

Perhaps now you can relax a little? I don't necessarily mean relax your diet, but meaning hopefully some of your anxieties will ebb away.

An nice early Christmas present for you.

I intend to AB :) My wife was SOOOOOO relieved but deep down, I knew the figures would be good :)

We now do yoga together and I always say to myself "keep calm and breathe" and keep in mind your screen name & your figures. :) My ultimate target is not so much your numbers, but rather your relaxed attitude.

Take care Mike :)

Hi guys

A picture says a thousand words ... well, you get the idea. Owe a heck of a lot to all of you (plus my wife :)) and what a relief. The doctor continues to be amazed. He thought I may have dropped a little but not this much. Bypassed the exceecllent range completely and went from good to non diabetic. Mike :)

If I could still drink Guinness, I'd down a 12 pack and not blink, I'm so happy. I'll be content to just celebrate this with my mates on here !!!!!!!!!

:D Brilliant Mike and long may it continue 'mate'

RRB :)

Not sure what that is in £ but even $1 would be too much, they are bad news all-round and they increase the chances of complications in people with diabetes, just Google the two.

Don't want to mate :) Like T2. and diet and BS deal with it (with all your help on here) and then stop smoking as stage 2 ... period. That's what works for me. Quiet confrotation and another step forward.

DIpa dee doo dah dipadee aay my oh my what a wonderful day. Congratulations Mike. Very inspirational and you sharing your story, your results your efforts supported by the members really HELPS OTHERS. Congratulations!

Hi Mike, I quit smoking on October the fifth after smoking for 37 years. I always knew that when I got diabetes I'd stop. So I did. It took some planning and I read Allen Carr's book and found it immensely helpful. The main part of the quitting process took place before I quit. The last week was terrible as I felt sooo very sorry for myself, it felt as if my life was over. What possible meaning could there be in life if I didn't smoke? I went through close to two packs a day at the end, then I quit and stepped into the new, non-smoking identity I had worked on developing. Et voilà, now I am a non-smoker. The only real problem I have had so far is that I have gained a lot of weight and it has nothing to do with eating too much. I trust it will resolve itself in time. By Easter it will be six months and I hope my metabolism will have normalised by then.

Good work Mike and quitting smoking will be a move in the right direction. Toto is right if anyone can go from two packs to none then you can do it. Best wishes

Thank you my friend :) I knew I'd miss somebody in my thank you list !!

Deep down, that makes me feel part of this group. I could be cured tomorrow but I would NEVER desert others in need if I had some advice.

I owe it to them based upon what I've seen here. Compassion and care.

Nite guys :)

Mike :)

Might talk to you online if that's OK?

Thanks Totto :)

Next challenge Eddie

Nite mate :)

Really well done. My parents both gave up smoking about 12 years ago after 40 plus years of smoking so it can be done. I think having tackled one addiction ( and I do think carbs are just that) , you will cope admirably with this next battle - you seem very determined and also willing to ask for and take on board advice so good on you. All the best .

Thanks noblehead :)

At $25 a packet here, I have my incentive :) Stage 2 for me come new year :)
try this..when you in-hail into the lungs, focus on the throat and what it feels like, take another drag and another in repetition, after 6, when you have smoke in your lungs, coff
start again with focus on your throat..if you can finish the cigarette like that, I'll give you a $100

Inspiring posts especially for new members to read and have some hope that they will regain control
You have worked so hard at this Mike and are a such a nice guy to boot.
Raising my glass to you x

What an inspiration you are Mike. I am totally thrilled for you, but it is you that did all the hard work. All we did was preach (and in my case not necessarily practice what I preach). A huge clap from me, plus a gold star and a gold medal. Just relax in your mind now, and have a wonderful Christmas.
