Type 2's: What was your fasting blood glucose in a morning?

Think holidays, sniffles and other lurking malaise have knocked everyone's figures (was going to say "for 6" but that would be pretty good in most cases ;) - but you know what I mean..... Don't know what test strips you use but I buy mine on eBay - pretty obviously, in some cases leaving pharmacy labels on, they are prescription ones being sold on...but.....as a pre diabetic I've no chance of script ones myself when even type 2's struggle to get them. Anyway, just a thought. Welcome to the thread/madhouse by the way :)
Good morning... Do infections and colds, etc. affect your readings very much then? I have been in three different time zones in two weeks and my readings are higher in the mornings first thing, but, after meals pretty much the same... is that normal? I'm such a duffer at all this even though I keep researching it when I have time...

Hi Susi

Yep, they can ... "can" being the operative word. Not heard of anyone remaining constant despite a cold ... question is how much they jump.

Sounds like you're OK with it but depends on the virus

Mike :)

6.5 This morning chesty cough back and coughing up yuk feeling rough. Great looks like chest infection is back for new year, peak flow readings gone back down so will try to get hold of asthma nurse b4 weekend and start antibiotics i have at home.
5.7 this morning... went back to sleep after the cats were kick-boxing on my bed at 4.... :) What a shame to start the New Year with a poorly chest... my youngest son is asthmatic and I know what a struggle it is.. I hope you feel better soon... :(

Loulou, will keep everything crossed that you recover quickly... stay wrapped up somewhere warm.

I get a cold around once every five years so I cannot grumble... it seems to just be a sort of 'summer cold'... I have ulcerative colitis and since I started low-carbing about three months ago, when my doc told me I was probably diabetic, I have not had a sick day... unheard of since I was in my late teens.... has anyone else on the forum said anything about it? I feel as though every mouthful of porridge and bran, rye bread and sweet potato that I was eating for fibre was probably killing me from another direction altogether... :)

I'll talk to him about it Anne. The previous tablets (olmetec) weren't bringing down my BP all that much .... and I've generally been around 145 even when I had an angiogram 10 years back .... which BTW was all clear on that front. I waver between around 145 and 160 and he's trying to get me back down, hence the new olmetec PLUS tablet. To make you feel a little more at ease, I just took one resuming after 4 days not taking them. Thanks for caring and everyone else as well :)

Mike

Hi Mike,

I cant advise you on any medication but as an online friend, I am glad you are listening to the good advice of the people on here with the knowledge, especially as I can see from your posts that you are increasing your exercise, its always better to play safe with your health.:)

Try and relax a bit. You might find that your BP improves with some simple relaxation techniques. I am imagining that you mentioned yoga?
Yoga is brilliant, you are right... I did some simple moves for years, till I fell and put my pelvis out... I feel the lack of it, definitely... I am almost fixed now and will start again - thank you for reminding me! I just do the morning stretches really, but I actually gained half and inch in height over two years... :)

7.6 this morning, don't know why it's so high in the mornings but it is always high.
Mine is higher than I like in the mornings too... apparently it's a liver dump! Your body just giving you some sugar when it knows you're up and about and need a boost... I don't know how true it is, but it seems to make sense... :)

Always will Kezz :) Another 100 driveway laps tonight and 6.3 post one hour after dinner :)

6.5 this morning :):):)
10.8 before breakfast :(:(:( How can my liver hate me this much!! I am back to trying a snack each morning to see if I can rescue myself from my dumping liver... it obviously didn't work this morning though :nailbiting:

rose again over night 9.4 today and throat still sore grrrr

So many colds and bugs going round. Take care everyone, keep warm, and recover quickly those of you stricken down.
@alliebee how are the measles doing?

4.9 at bedtime :)
5.2 this morning :)

Off out for a birthday lunch with the family later. Probably a good job I've started the day quite low!

... and from me, 3 hours and 7 minutes B4 OZ 2015, I REALLY wish you well BT. You've been absolutely fantastic to me and I will NEVER forget it:)

Enjoy your 37th :);)
