Type 2's: What was your fasting blood glucose in a morning?

When does everyone stop eating in the evening? I stopped at strickly 8pm last night as I had a fasting test at the clinic this morning. Maybe that is what made a difference this morning. Usually, if I am peckish in the evening, I have a snack. Maybe I need a curfew!

We have our evening meal about 7 to 7-30pm. I only have water after that. My overnight fast is therefore about 13.5 hours.

A steady 3.9 for me this morning. I'm happy enough with that.

Today and tomorrow will involve a few motorway miles for me, as Mr B heads back to Paradise, and I'm on the airport run. The upside is that it really does mean I can start my own countdown to the sunshine.

Last night I discovered the series of Death in Paradise starting tomorrow night, has been filmed in a favourite and frequent stop off point for us, during out times in the region. The Facebook page has a pic dated 4th January, which was undoubtedly taken in one of me all-time favourite bays. It's not my style of TV viewing, but I may have to watch it on fast-forward, just to see the locations. Guadeloupe is a beautiful island, of literally two halves (it's butterfly shaped), with one end fairly populated and almost industrial, and the other covered in beautiful rain forrest.

One of the peculiarities of the French islands is any stamp in your passport shows one to be in an arrondissement of Paris. That's your completely useless fact of the day from Planet Breathe.:D

It is a daft programme, but we always watch it for the scenery. The island is so beautiful.

My last meal for the day begins around 16.35 and ends soon after. Next meal is breakfast at around 05.00.

I eat quite late as I like to wait when there is peace and quiet and the kids have gone to sleep so usually anytime between 8-9pm. Since adopting the new regime I do my upmost to not eat anything once I have had my dinner.

8.3 this am ....had some pikelets for supper, not had them in a long time with Lurpak butter on them as I have seen no carbs in Lurpack and not many in pikelets...

Pikelets - are they the same as crumpets or are they the flatter things like Scotch pancakes?

I generally don't eat after finishing dinner around 8 or earlier, although I usually have a mug of decaf tea at or near bedtime.

I think I've found out why I was getting the same high readings of 7.9. This afternoon I picked up my latest batch of needles and strips for my new monitor which I've only used once. I'm trying very hard here to word this without going into a novel about it, so here's the very short version...............

Old system had a 6 needles barrel which you inserted into the pricker and rotated every time you used it.
New system has single use needles which need replacing after each use. I thought the new ones worked the same as the old ones and therefore used the same needle 3 times. It may be that I was getting the same reading due to contamination. I might be wrong but after changing the needle I got a reading of 5.8. i will keep checking and see what happens.

Hmmm I use accu check fastclix, which has six needles in a rotatable barrel, I use each needle about 10 times, and my readings are ok. By which I mean if I'm being good readings are ok and if I've strayed readings show it . Are you on lchf regime and are you accurately eating the right amount of carbs to protein to fat ? For your bmi.
